derrickdj1
I was rewiring two of the subs to use in a different configuration. A couple of the screw insert for mounting the driver were loose. I put the insert back into the hole but, the screw does not catich and basicall pushes the insert out. So, I brought some t-nuts and am having the same problems. The screw are long enough and I am think the whole may be slightly larger than it should be. Solution: are there larger t-nuts that may work(can't find any larger ones at HomeDepot) or should I put wood filler in the holes and redrill 8 new holes an inch or so from the old holes? jason str
Not sure what you mean by screw insert but if you need to fill in your holes just drill out the old holes to the next larger size and install dowel rods or maybe you can get away using the same size dowels if the holes are in decent shape and glue in with PL Premium if you have it but wood glue would be OK also. Toothpick bits and glue may also be used to fill in but will not be as strong as the dowel rod method. If you are having problems with spinning T nuts use epoxy between your motorboard & T nuts, carefull not to get any adhesive on the threads. Another trick is to get some small screws and screw your T nuts down around the edges from the back to be sure they don't fall out again. wvu80
I use the 6-prong T-nuts from PE in 10/32. http://www.parts-express.com/10-32-deluxe-6-prong-t-nuts-50-pcs--081-1088 I buy my bolts off Ebay because I like black with round hex-head and they are cheaper than PE. I also use the glue on the T-nut trick, in my case I used PL Premium on the outside, encasing the T-nut to the enclosure. I don't know if that really works, all I know is the T-nuts and bolts are secure into the 3/4" MDF. Edited June 22, 2015 by wvu80
Guest David H
I usually just glue the nut in place, super glue will probably do the trick.
derrickdj1
Thanks guys! The problem arose when I swap the old Chase drivers with the Dayton Ultimax. The Dayton driver is slightly larger and is not flush mounted like the Chase. A couple of the screws may have been at a slight angle. I will Jimmy this up today. derrickdj1
I just decided to drill some new holes, replace bad t-nuts, and put wood filler in the old holes. Now I have to recalibrate everything since the spl is different.
derrickdj1
Testing the system today with a couple of movies since the wife is out. Well, I broke a vase that vibrated off the fire place in the basement. I used super glue to put it back together. I will see how long it takes before I am in the doghouse, lol.

Boy, does that sound familiar! Congrats on breaking the vase, BTW. You are obviously on the right track.
