longdrive03
A friend of mine got these Heresy wannnabbeees from a friend for a good price. He's hired me to rebuild the cabinets and install Crites 1228 woofers. They have T-35 tweeters and Atlas PD5VH mid drivers with cast aluminum mid horn (no number), non Klipsch xover and Radio Shack 12" woofers. Cabinets were larger than H's and had slot port at bottom and were scratched up and dented walnut but were well constructed. Looks like a cabinet shop built them. I couldn't come up with any numbers in cabinet to identify them but they don't appear to be Speakerlab products. So far I've removed all the speakers and the homemade looking xovers, filled in the front bottom vent, cut the front edges flush, knotched the top sides to allow cherry trim, veneered in aircraft grade cherry veneer, and installed front solid cherry trim on one. The front trim is 3/4"thick and the grill frame will set in the trim flush. I was rocking along pretty good on these till I had a diverticulitis attack that threw me in the hospital for 3 days. Hope to get back on these pretty soon if the weather breaks a little. Spritzed some water on ther last pic to show grain. Pics attached. I have to say I'm impressed with Bob Crites woofers. They measured out at 97 db and 31 Hz fs.

longdrive03
I can tell by the virtual avalanche of views and responses this thread is up for post of the year. At the risk of looking and sounding foolish I will press on and pose EVEN more pics of my progress. I have erected chicken wire in front of my monitor to block any garbage flying out of my monitor.

Rivervalleymgb
I like the corners! My first pair of Klipsch speakers were bought and built in1977. Heresy in raw birch with rounded over corners done at the factory.

longdrive03
Finished and delivered these yesterday. Customer was very happy. The Crites 1228 woofers work great and keep up with the horn mid and K-77 tweeters. Very good bass for that size box with two 3" ports on the back. Now customer may want me to redo his third set of 1985 Cornwalls he bought this weekend.

YK Thom
I'm very impressed with the finished product. Do the ports improve the bass as compared to a regular Heresey?

longdrive03
Thanks guys, sorry I was offline a while with some surgery. Yes, the woofers do extend the bass. Can't recall the f3 on these but it was lower than a Heresy.
DizRotus
They look great. Thanks for posting. I was punctuated with a semi-colon after 2nd divertic episode more than 25 years ago. No problems since. Eat whatever I want. Best wishes regarding your situation.
