Any of you Aquos fans need to get your butts to the store right now and buy your last Aquos before the price goes through the roof and then they vanish.

HiSense has pulled an Audiovox - and just purchased Sharp NA operations.

I used to be a loyal Sony customer, owning at least 4 of their top of the line XBR's.

Last year I purchased my 1st Aquos Q+ and I can say the PQ with the Sharp, is better than any of the Sony XBR's.

Interesting to see how this shakes out.

Good luck on that. Had to replace the main board in a 60" Aquos Sharp LED TV that was only 2 years old and just out of warranty. Wish I could afford the XBRs.

Let me get this straight; Sharp America, a Japanese company which makes TV's in Mexico,  has being bought out by Hisense, from China, so they can sell Hisense TV's with the Sharp name on them in America built in Mexico?

I've heard Hisense has a good picture but lousy sound.  Is reliability any good?

When we bought our LG last week... We were also looking at the Sharp, and we noticed the picture was not as sharp on the Sharp as the other brands. I asked the salesperson, and they said that the most recent ones they have been getting were all that way.

On the bright side, I picked up a Hisense 7" tablet that runs android whatever. Build quality seems very good and I have had no issues with it. Haven't really found a use for it yet though.

Sometimes these things turn out alright. When they pick up and move the current production facilities, thats your first clue.

I paid over double for my my last XBR (almost triple)... as I did for my current Sharp Aquos Q+.

My Sharp has a better PQ without question. I wouldn't hesitate to grab another or recommend one.

Of note; Sharp makes almost a dozen versions of the Aquos... from the entry level "LE" .... up to the top of the line "UQ" (with multiple versions of the EQ & SQ that fall in the middle of the Aquos line). There are even 5 versions of the top of the line Q+. Hard to tell which version you actually viewed, but both the UQ & SQ (Q+) models are excellent.  Even harder to tell how the store model was calibrated, or if it was just taken outta' the box & put on the shelf as is with blown out, washed out picture.

I started looking around and it appears the 3d glasses I will need (an-3dg40) is very hard to come by. Anyone know of any 3rd party glasses thatare compatible? From what I understand the g40 is a blue tooth pair of glasses.

Wow, thanks for the heads up! I wasn't aware the AN3DG40 glasses were discontinued. A quick search shows a real limited availability for OEM models & at almost double the original price I paid just last year. Not sure on alternative 3rd party options & how well they perform. I have 4 original pairs & the 3D with the Q+ is excellent. I'll try & source a couple of back-up glasses for the future (before they disappear).

EDIT: just found some BNIB on eBay for the OEM price of $35, these probably won't last long.
