Cornwall 1974 Horizontal "Decorators"

I don't have photos to share and have to drive a couple of hours to see these, but they look nice (in photos I've seen) with the exceptions that the caps are pushed in-seems to happen when speakers are used without (or don't come with) grilles.  In any event, are these desirable, marketable.  I would have to purchase a couple of other items as a package to get them. Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

Depending on price and condition, they are great speakers. I paid $500 for mine and will end up putting close to 1k into the complete refurb. For collectors they do ok, if your'e looking to flip them, you better get them cheap.

PICS would help

Mark;

Thanks, like I said I don't have photos to share yet, but the ones I've seen look very nice.  I actually like the looks a lot, but I have to drive a couple of hours to see them.  I agree on the price-and he will need to get real on that-but he's had them for sale for a while.  On the other hand he is the original owner which I like.

You find them where you find them. They are great speakers, on the large size but that is not a problem for most of us here LOL

I paid $500 for my pair of CW2s, drove 1 hour to get them and the seller drove 1 hour too. Mine are OO complete with plant rings on the top LOL :D

Circles on top of speakers seem to be a popular option. I have Cornwalls already as well. 77 vintage and I love them, finding a spot for the second set might be problematic but they seem to be searching for a new home.

Having done a little Cornwall research, if you are talking about the horizontal mirrored pair decorators, those that have those and the conventional verticals swear by their imaging. I'd say if all the drivers are firing and the cabinets are in good shape, they would make a great and worthwhile refurb project.

Plant rings, I refer to that as "original patina". They usually don't make it through a vigorous rubbing with restore-a-finish and 0000 steel wool.

Yes, those are the CW's I'm speaking of.  Waiting to hear back from the owner who doesn't check email often.

My 73 Decorators are vertical or horizontal, it was designed that way. They realized in a hurry that vertical was the way to go so that how they were marketed. The speakers had arrows on the back pointing both directions so the tweeter was always on top. I believe they are one in the same, but maybe HDBR, Colter or some of the other guys that worked at Klipsch can chime in

Those are what I am restoring. I'm having a full makeover though. Internally braced, reveneered in Walnut, grills cut, Klipsch cloth with pie badges, and risers so the grills dont rub on the carpet. If you do buy them, use the tweeters to the outsides, they image much better. And if you're going to keep them, either brace them or have someone do it for you.

They look great, the dust caps can be replaced no big deal. It looks like someone stained a pair of RB, which will take away from their resale value. If they sound good and look good, buy them to use them, I dont know what the resale would be. or how much you could get. I'm guessing 700-800
