Thanks

I am not very experienced, when it comes to repairing speakers.  These were in the garage they had  dust, debris, and cobwebs. Think american pickers, where those guys are climbing all over the place trying to find stuff. . It was cleaned up a little before i saw it. Pretty sure a dust rag or towel was used, however it looked pretty good, i cleaned up more with a dust air gun (very gentle).

The heresy 2's

Plugged it in , and at times it got real loud and then back then quiet. I havent looked inside, to see what is going on. Im sure there dirt, dust at the wazoo.

heresy 1s

These sound alright, i was just going to let someone look at them.

side note --- Just purchased these to replace my rf3 II+ set.--- freaking awesome

Klipsch RP-280F towers
Klipsch RP-450C center
Klipsch RP-160M bookshelf speakers
Klipsch RP-250S surround speakers

svs pb 12 plus dual.

thanks for the help/.

Sting/Scott,   I'm going to be down in the Indy area in the next couple of weeks, and could take a look at them for you.  Let me know if this is of interest.

And, are there two pair of speakers, or one pair with one Heresy I, and one Heresy II?

There are no screws to loosen/tighten on an HII crossover all the components are soldered to the PCB.  Check the connections to the drivers they tend to work loose as they are not soldered they are slip on type connectors.

If that does not solve it you have a loose solder joint in the network somewhere and the solder needs to be re-flowed.

Great advice.  I had forgotten that. :blush2:

One thing I found on a pair of forte's was the wires connecting each driver was not making good contact. they were tight and very hard to slide off and had no visible corrosion. But still didn't have contact, after removing I sandpapered the terminals a little and it worked. They looked perfect but were loosing contact off and on, only had it happen once, I heard you can use a pencil eraser to do the same thing.

if you have a lot of dust inside a Heresy (don't care as long as it is not an HIP) you have a serious leak(s) and you need to seal the cabinet properly. I have opened old Heresy and they are as clean as a whistle inside how can they not be they are sealed. Seal baffle on H and all the drivers and the terminal cups.

I agree with Moray... All Heresy models are sealed cabinets so there should be NO dust inside. Just check all connections. A cold solder joint can look perfect but still be no good. If you are hany with a soldering iron (low wattage), you can touch them up with no problem.

If there is a broken trace on the printed circuit boards, they can also be fixed, but are harder to spot.
