Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 I recently purchased an RSW-15 in a package deal that included a pair of Cherry RF-7's and an RC-7. A Trio of LaScalas paired with a Trio of RSW-15's....a total of nine 15" woofers. At what point do you reach overkill? NEVER!!! Honestly, I never would have dreamed of having anything close to this in my HT when I first began plans for my HT in Oct of 2008. It's funny to think when I began this audio journey, I went to a Klipsch dealer in Orlando to demo a pair of RB-61's and of course they had a pair of RF-7's in the same room. "What are those?" I inquired. Somehow the search for RB-61's ended up changing to getting RF-83's and an RC-64. It's a slippery slope I tell ya. So here are the RF-7's and RSW-15 that I picked up this week. I am currently have the Dual Maple RSW-15's placed behind my false wall in the corners of the front room. So now I'm trying to figure out where I want to temporarily place the third RSW-15 until we are able to rebuild the front wall. I only see 4 options for placement.... Option 1:Placing it in the top, middle cabinet above the screen. Is this a bad idea? The reason I'm considering placing it up high is lack of floor space. Option 2:If you look at the below image, I could place the third RSW-15 to the left of my front row, in front of the step. My fear is that someone would be walking through there in the dark and end up kicking the woofer in. Not sure this would be a good location. The RSW-12 looks so tiny and cute next to the LaScalas. Haha Option 3:The only other place in the room would be in the front corner behind the false wall on top of one of the Maple RSW-15's Option 4:In bottom left cabinet door. Thoughts and suggestions? derrickdj1
As always, I love the look of the room and the beautiful speakers. Is there any room to put them right next to each other on the ground in front and below the screen. This would be like an array setup and will focus the sound directly at the listeners. In other word, the sound will not be so omnidirectional. If not, stack two!
Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 Thank you Derrick. As you can see in the photo below, if I have the RSW-15's in between the LaScalas, there is not enough room to squeeze a third RSW-15 in there. The other reason this will not work is that my receiver and PS3 is behind the bottom right cabinet door. It used to be behind the bottom center cabinet door until I purchased the third LaScala. It was a pain not being able to use my remote with the LaScala in the way.
derrickdj1
Since this is for HT and not music, stack 2 RSW 15's for some extra punch and I'll bring the popcorn, lol.
Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 Yes, the HT is primarily used for HT. Just wonder if having three RSW-15's in corners would make it too boomy?
Superdave
Since this is for HT and not music, stack 2 RSW 15's for some extra punch Pickup one more for a double-double stack! Yo-yeah!

Moderators dtel Posted August 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 What can I say except your the man Youthman, maby we should call you speaker magnet instead ? Not exactly the easiest speaker to find and you have 3.
Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 I do sometimes hear Craigslist ads calling my name while I sleep at night. Is that weird? Haha Not exactly the easiest speaker to find and you have 3. I agree. I could not believe I found a matching Maple RSW-15 when I did....that was even more rare. Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 Here was the original ad. Now you see why I was so persistent and started the At What Point Do You Give Up thread. His wife had posted it to help with remodeling costs and when I originally talked to him, he said he wasn't ready to sell it yet. He ended up reposting it 1.5 months later and increased the price to $500. I offered $300 and he was glad to accept and I was glad to buy. He said it has about 3hrs of use on it. Only issue is some surface scratches on the top where he had apparently had items placed on it over the years that he had it.
BusaDude
Not sure what's behind your last row of seats... but I've had my sub on the center of my back wall, right behind my main listening position. If you could put it back there, it would probably even out the LFE coverage in all of your chairs.
Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 Rear seats are up against the back wall. Only about 6" back there
Tremors
Rear seats are up against the back wall. Only about 6" back there I'd put it on the back wall too. Rear seat(s) may have to become rear seat
Coleman
I also vote for one more and double stack. Youth you sure you can handle all that bass?
Moderators Youthman Posted August 16, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2015 With a family of 6, rear seats will have to stay. It's more important for me to have my family together than to have another subwoofer. Yes I can handle the bass...but if not, I'll go deaf trying
hardhead1
Change out 2 of the Lascalas for your RF-7iis in your 2 ch system. It will open up floor space and I believe RF-7s are more suited for 7.2 than Lascalas and your 2 ch systerm should sound better.I haven't heard the RF-7s but I have Lascalas and they are very musical.

Hardhead1, Welcome to the forum. As good as the RF-7II's are, the LaScala trio front soundstage is a tough one to beat for HT plus Michael's wife would prefer they stay in the HT room and not out in the family room. Happy wife, happy life. Bill

Scrappydue
My opinion would be to flip it, keep the cash for when you build some horn subs. Cause face it. The rsw-15's aren't gonna be in that room forever. I KNOW BETTER
