FS Klipsch (CF3/4) Resin horns...

I have a pair of stock resin horn from Klipsch CF3/4 (with factory gaskets). These are one inch screw on throat hybrid conical/tractrix horns. I like to think of them as the poor mans K510. These are the largest wide band horns used in any Klipsch home loudspeaker. Sorry I have no camera. These horns are in good condition with no cracks or damage. I would like $150.00 for the pair plus actual postage cost. They will be packed very well to arrive safely. HORN lens only no driver. Payment by pay pal. Please PM me to discuss.

I may be interested, Moray.  Is this just the horn throat or is the driver also included?  Have been thinking of adding a pair of horns to accompany the KLF-30's.

Regret selling the Scala's :(

Horn lens only one pair selling only as a pair. Drivers are not included horn lens only but these horns will fit any standard one inch screw mount driver such as the EV DH1506 or other such as the DH2a and many others. These are physically larger than the mid horn of the KLF20/30.

Drivers are not included

too bad, looks like a fun project.  Something for winter perhaps...

Yes, the bigger, the better.  I don't know what I will do.  I do know however, an opportunity will present itself.

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks Moray.  I went ahead and listed the K-63-KN compression drivers that were designed to go with the horns you have listed, in case someone wants a matched horn and compression driver set.  I cross referenced your sale here, on my thread.

I called them this morning, they were at $700 for the person coming at 5 and if they didnt take them the price was going up. Opus radar alerted me to them.

Figures...

The seller just text me, said he'd call in the a.m.

We will see.  Most likely, he can keep em'...

Moray, sorry to "highjack" your post :(

lol!  Some call it "thread crapping," a term I really hate.  I prefer "thread drift" in which a little is doesn't really hurt anything.  You are bumping the ad back to the top, so I think you're OK.  :)

Thread drift:  If you could have gotten those LS for $475, you would be doing MORE than OK.  :D

Do you have a "drop dead" number on your quest for those LS, which are apparently up to about $700? (feel free to ignore the question if negotiations are ongoing)

The CF3/4 horn/driver would make a first class horn to turn a LaScala into a two way they are very close to the size of a Klipsch K510. Cyotee turned his Lascala into a two way and he was delighted. Less crossover to listen to and easy to time align.

According to this post from 2003, the CF-4 XO is 1500.  I have seen other articles which suggest 1400.

A review from 2008 indicates the CF-3 is crossed over at 1000.  Further down in the thread Mr. djk says it is crossed at 1600.  The 1600 number sounds more correct to me, and is backed up by other articles I've read.

I thought it would be lower (below 1000 Hz), as MJ mentioned above that it could be used in a LaScala, in a two way setup... which would indicate a capability down near 500-600 Hz. That's assuming what I know about the LaScala bass bin is correct?

Also, since it's a bigger horn than what's in the KLF's (woofer to mid, crossed at 750 & 825 Hz) and the Chorus II (woofer to mid, crossed at 600 Hz)... Seems to indicate it would be capable of a lower crossover point.

I can't afford them right now anyway. But putting that horn and a newer compression driver together with dual 12's or say the dual 15's of a DBB, would make a nice custom setup.

The cut off will also have to do with the growth rate.  I believe the KLF horns are 703 indicating a 700hz cut off. What is the number for the CF3/4 horn?  That number should indicate cutoff.

I never heard that, but it makes perfect sense.

Edit I lied, I did indeed see that before, but I forgot.  Mr. djk said in a separate post that the 703 was in the KLF's as you said, and he said it was also used in the CF-2, crossed as low a 700, just as you said.

I'm not sure I ever saw a model number like that on my CF-4 horns, but I wasn't really looking.  I'll so some research and see if I can find a model number referenced somewhere.  The horn is referred to by Klipsch as a 90(o) x 60(o) Tractrix® Horn.

I thought I had a three digit number for the CF3/4 horn but I cannot find it. Given that it has a mouth which is wider and higher and a longer length than the KLF20/30 mid horn I would expect that the CF3/4 horn has a 600Hz range cut off. It looks also to be a bit larger than the K600 of the Cornwall. If I am in error here please correct me.
