FS: K-51-V midrange + K-600 horns (pair)

Recommended Posts

Pulled from 1983 Cornwalls. Fully function. One horn has a broken corner, but it should not affect mounting or horn mouth geometry.

For reference, the K-51-V's are ceramic drivers, different phase plug, and were used in builds for only a short period of time.

$325 shipped and pp'd for the pair. Offers welcome.

Someone should have jumped on these as soon as the ad went up, and that no one has even nibbled makes me feel like we're just plain running out of people that really know the Klipsch product line or anything about some of the more interesting aspects of Klipsch history.

These drivers are pretty rare. The K-51-V is the ceramic magnet version of the dual phase plug K-55-V. The driver was developed because of the stratospheric costs associated with mining cobalt out of Zaire in the late 70s / early 80s.

I was once told that after Atlas developed this driver, Klipsch gave it to EV to see if they could make a less expensive version of it. The result was the K-55-M.

These look really nice, and if I hadn't of just spent $2K on capacitors, they would be gone!
