The History Kid
I'm sitting here with a lot of idle time as my classes ended early this evening... What has your system evolved into since you joined the forum? What did you own when you joined vs. what do you own now? And I'm not talking about a running list, I mean...on the system that is your pride and joy, that one system that you truely call yours and yours alone: what was it when you joined, what is it now? For me... When I joined Yamaha RX-V2500 7.1 A/V Receiver Klipsch RF-3 II Mains Klipsch RC-52 II Center Klipsch RS-42 II Surrounds (x2) Polk DSW PRO 660 wi 12" Subwoofer Sony BDP-S3200 BluRay Player Now Emotiva Fusion 8100 7.1 A/V Receiver Emotiva UPA-2 2-CH Power Amplifier Klipsch RF-3 II Mains Klipsch RB-5 Mahogany Main-Heights Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RS-42 II Side Surrounds Klipsch RS-3 II Rear Surrounds Klipsch RSW-10 10" Subwoofer Emotiva XDA-2 I DAC/Headphone Amplifier Oppo BDP-103 BluRay & Digital Media Player (what the hell did you guys make me do?!) USNRET
I don't even remember the electronics but when I joined the speakers were Chorus IIs and Quartets. At this moment the speakers are Belles with Martin Logan inwall surrounds. Edited August 27, 2015 by USNRET

kapsnb01
Then: JBL S-Center, a pair of Sony's that were too big to be bookshelves and too small to be true floorstanders, a really old Onkyo receiver, and a JBL PB10 sub. Then: Yamaha RX-V667 AVR that powered RF-62s, RC-62, RB-51, and same JBL PB10 sub Now: Denon AVR-4520ci powering, Epic CF-3 (w/EV DH-1506 compression drivers), KV-4, KSP S6 surrounds, KSB 2.1 Front Heights, and an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus sub
CECAA850
I'd get a brain cramp just trying to recall them all. Multiple systems, multiple rooms. Heck, I'm on my 3'rd or 4'th change just in my patio system and have a couple speakers in the wings waiting to go in when I have the time. Tarheel
In the early 80s (disco days) I gave up on equipment pretty much. Had a Pioneer SX-1280 receiver, JVC cassette, McIntosh ML-1C speakers. Made cassettes from LPs. Rarely used the Teac R2R. Then about 2004 I met bluesboy. He had all his analog gear exposed like in the old days....not hidden in cabinets like was popular in the 80s. He was also starting to build khorns in his shop. I got interested again. So I started my second collection about the time I joined the forum (2005). Got my R2R back from a friend I had given it to. Gave him 5 classical CDs in exchange. Plugged it into my Bose radio and was surprised that it still worked. Later connected it to the Pioneer and the McIntosh speakers. About that time I inherited a little money so I had bluesboy build a music room addition onto the house, build cabinets, and then build LS clones. Unhappy with the K-400 horn I asked that he build some LS hybrids with Altec horns and drivers, and Beyma tweets.....which was the mod du jour here on the forum. Much better. From there I tip toed into tubes. Won a Quicksilver Audio preamp on an ebay auction. Bought some Quiksilver Audio Horn Monos off Audiogon, ordered a Jolida JD-100 CDP with tubed output. From there I won an auction on ebay for a Denon DP-1250 turntable...recently refurbished. Ordered a Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood cartridge and started buying vinyl. Then I bought a couple of R2R decks and sent them to Kevin Kass (Dokorder guru) in Florida and had him rebuild them. Sold the Pioneer SX-1280, bought two vintage HK tube amps....sent one to Craig for repairs. Bought a Juicy Music BB Extreme with Cream from a forum member and later sold it after new mods to another member. Back to the QS preamp which I still use. Got into tube rolling for a brief period. Thebes sent me a bunch of tubes to play with. I settled on some old stock Telefunkens for the phono section of the pre and some Bugle Boys for the Output tubes in the Jolida CDP. Latest purchase was a Tube Magic DAC and a subscription to Spotify (Premium). Yes CDs and Vinyl do sound better to my ears as does CD compilations tape to reel tape. So that is my journey till now and probably more than you wanted to know

Now....LSI's, multiple pairs of refurbed La Scala's, multiple pairs of Cornwalls, multiple pairs of Heresy's, HIP's (coming this weekend), Belle's, Marantz and Pioneer monster receivers, HH Scott tube amps and preamps, other tube amps, 2 vintage turntables, HK-730 receivers, Velodyne sub, Electro Voice Aristocrat, Curtis Mathis tube console, hundreds of tubes (most of which I can't use....) The History Kid
Now: Denon AVR-4520ci powering, Epic CF-3 (w/EV DH-1506 compression drivers), KV-4, KSP S6 surrounds, KSB 2.1 Front Heights, and an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus sub How do you like those KSP-S6's? I've seen a few of them here and there and have always wondered. So, obviously, Colter is to blame.... I just inherently blame everyone, and my compulsive equipment buying behavior. That Oppo sure did round things out nicely!

babadono
When I joined this forum a little over 4 years ago I had no HT, no TV. 2 channel system had stock KHorns and Lascalas. Now in family room HT I have RF7-II mains,RC64 II center, CDT500 II side and rear surrounds and 2 RSW-15 subs. In the 2 channel its the same but both KHorns and Lascalas have been modified. New Fastlane tractix squawker horns, new tweeters, new ALK ES crossovers. And like Thaddeus said this is just the speakers.

kapsnb01
Now: Denon AVR-4520ci powering, Epic CF-3 (w/EV DH-1506 compression drivers), KV-4, KSP S6 surrounds, KSB 2.1 Front Heights, and an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus subHow do you like those KSP-S6's? I've seen a few of them here and there and have always wondered. Love 'em...wouldn't switch them out for anything. Everyone loves the gear they own, so take it with a grain of salt, but I've been really impressed. I've heard nearly all the reference surrounds, and almost pulled the trigger on some RS-62s before I finally found these...I'd say they're one of the better surrounds that Klipsch has made. They are very hard to find...but, if you're patient they do come up here and there. The nice thing is, since they're almost 20 years old now, they can be had fairly reasonably. If you're ever up this way, you're welcome to stop in and listen for yourself.
