jimjimbo
Ohhhh....a Skyline 3 way.....not for everybody, but I sure did like them when I lived in Indy.
teknoid
I have a really good Cincinnati Chili recipe. Round here it gets served "5 way". I also make a mean pot of basic "Texas Red". Enjoy them both but they are VERY different things.

I got your back (though I might be standing 300 miles behind it) Interestingly, I had a chili-dog on my mind just today. I'll have to have one soon and eat it in silence. (my wife prefers that I not talk when I eat)
Gilbert
But the company goes on.. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2015/08/27/chili-chain-founder-great-grandpa-skyline-dead--87/32463143/ Weeeeellll shoot. Got me all excited about a new chili I hadn't tried, but when I went to their website to order some, the site redirected me to potential vendors. Looks like COSTCO is one of them, so I'll have to drive to town and see if they have it.
tromprof
Isn't the same out of a can. Cincinnati chili is different but addictive. Skyline is the most prevalent but a lot of Cincy neighborhoods have there own versions. I may have to go out for a 5 way tomorrow in his honor. Coytee
Gilbert, I get mine at Kroger in the long shot you have Kroger's near you. The Prof is right that it's not the same out of the can.....but.... it's the next best thing! If you DO find some, make sure that you look at the pictures so you can see how they heap the cheese on top and know that they use mild cheddar. (my wife likes to use extra/maximum sharp for all things cheddar and it drives her nuts when I get the mild for these BUT, it's how they're made!) Mighty Favog
Story about Skyline from my youth: This happened at the very first Skyline location on Glenway Avenue at Warsaw Ave on the west side of Cincinnati that opened in 1949. When I was about 13 or 14-years old, one of my greatest friends lived right across the street from my house. This friend lived for baseball. Playing it and stats knowledge. His father was a long time coach of a little league team in a part of Cincinnati called Delhi (Del-Hi). The father was also an alcoholic but not mean one. So, after every game the father coached on Saturday morning, he would go to one of the bars just a couple of blocks from our house (area called Price Hill). There he would drink till about midnight or 1 a.m. and come home. Sometimes walking, sometimes driving (we tried to prevent that when we could). When he got home he would sit on the front porch with the rest of us young kids and loudly tell us about EVERY pitch and EVERY play that happened that game. After a couple hours of this, and still drunk as hell, he would get HONGRY (as he put it) and ask if I would go up to Skyline about 6-blocks away and get him some chili-samiches (no hot dog cause he didn't have teeth). I'd hop on one of me skateboards and was back within 15-20 minutes. That after jawing with whoever was working there at the time because, around there, everybody knew everybody. Thing was, by the time I got back, the old man was passed out on the front porch. So there I stand with box of Skyline and his change. Gave the change to my friend and we ate pretty well for a couple of summers.

At least not in my town.

I'm not sure of the management structure but maybe those closer to the scene have flexibility in what they will stock?

Marvel
Just thinking how ironic that is since Kroger's world headquarters is in downtown Cincinnati. Kroger's has been gone from Chattanooga for a long time. I think they became Red Food, which became Bi-Lo... will soon be Food City. geoffr
Awful stuff, IMO. Hormel's on a doggie is much better, although canned chili is universally pretty mediocre.
