SCOOTERDOG
Howdy all Been a while since I've been around here. I'm in the middle of updating my HT and would like to mount my Heresy's on the wall. I really don't want to put any holes in them so I was tyrying to find some kind of clamping style and would I would like them to tilt and swivel Really need some suggestions for mounting as I am at a lost here. Thanks all Edited September 7, 2015 by SCOOTERDOG
CECAA850
I have some KP-2500's I'd like to do that to as well. They may already have threaded inserts but if not, I'll keep an eye on this thread.
ricktate
One forum member made a cut out in the wall so he could have at least a little shelf to help support the speaker. Heresys are pretty heavy might need a shelf. Rick
garyrc
The Heresy is not meant to be hung from any of its panels, so you will need to provide support from underneath. Otherwise, the panels could conceivably pull apart. Klipsch has a photo somewhere showing a room with Heresy surrounds near the ceiling. They built individual shelves with partial walls up the sides of each speaker. They were tilted down slightly so I'm convinced they put a few screws in through the shelf sides and bottom. I don't think the screws would hurt the sonic characteristics, and I think the boxes would remain air-tight. The photo had them all around the top of the room, with a Khorn in the rear corner. Anyone have a copy you could post? For earthquake safety, you need to attach them somehow, rather than just putting them on a shelf. They are much heavier than most home speakers that are hung. There are earthquakes expected -- sooner of later -- in every part of the country. Oh, wait ... I found the picture in an old (paper) file where everything is in the condition of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Hope it reproduces. Nope, I got another "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." WTF? I scanned the image and got it on my email, but what should I do to transfer it to this post? CECAA850
A shelf sounds like a good idea.
The Dude
Not a Heresy but heavy like one, I just used hangman brand French cleats like this. http://www.homedepot.com/p/OOK-Hangman-200-lb-French-Cleat-Picture-Hanger-with-Wall-Dog-Mounting-Screws-55316/202341629 To hang my drifts, I ran a horizontal 2x6 in-between two studs to anchor them to the wall. I don't remember how I attached them to the speaker, I might have used t-nuts from the inside so it would be strong, but I may have just pre drilled and used a good screw directly into the back. I know you don't want drill into the cabinet, but I think you will find you will have to regardless of the bracket style, unless you used a shelf. Going about it like PSG did you would be able to angle the speaker down 15 Degrees. I have had several earthquakes and these are still there. DMH
I purchased a set of "On-Stage Stands Ss-7322B Adjustable Wall Speaker Bracket - Pair" to mount KP-250 speakers on the wall of my son's room. The KP 250 's have pole mounting brackets built into them. But, I also noticed that they make an attachment to the Ss-7322B to mount speakers without pole mounting capability. Ebay sells them as well as Sweetwater ($59.00). These brackets are rated for 80#.
