JohnA
I have 2 Altec 604-8Gs from mid-70s 3577A/Stonehenge III Studio Monitors for sale. They have been overhauled by Jams Audio in Nashville to new condition using Great Plains Audio cones and diaphragms. The original crossovers are also available. http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/altec/catalogs/1974-home/page4.jpg The cabinets were damaged by water and mold and I consider them unusable. You can have them for a nominal fee, but you must come to Chattanooga to get them. I will ship them bolted to a sheet of plywood and enclosed in heavy boxes, or you may come to Chattanooga to get them. I am also willing to drive 100 miles in any direction to meet you. Asking $1900 for the pair, plus shipping, crossovers negotiable. Contact me through the Forum and I'll send additional contact information. (has a link which I did not click on) http://home.earthlink.net/~jmarkwart/id10.html That sure looks like a cool project for someone. Ceptorman
TTT I noticed your signature….Ducati 1098?
juniper
Do I see orange in the throat in the one picture? if so these aren't your everyday 604 8g's. These are fine speakers, look what Jean Hiraga did with them and the comments about them in the high end Munich show. Some Altecs are very fussy creatures, get the whole thing right and they can be simply be amazing. Its like one person said, these are like owning a Ferrari.... I have a 748 with an 853 bore kit and more I don't usually admit. The X was jealous of my spending on Rosetta. The 1098 is considered a Testastretta Evoluzione, narrow head evolution, engine. Narrow included valve angle, actually.

Easley also did the Cornwall and LaScala drawings floating around here. I would trust the link. Bruce
