Wolfbane
Are K-33E's still available from Klipsch or are aftermarket woofers the way to go when replacing 35 year old original speakers? I have one NOS Klipsch K-33-E which was purchased originally not by me ~30 years ago. May want to find a mate for it one day.
djk
How has it been stored? If not stored on edge, the suspension will have taken a set and it may be a problem.

jimjimbo
That's not good. OK, so how exactly should a woofer be stored, for months, or years...? What does on edge actually mean?
jason str
Vertical not horizontal. Cones sag over time.

Wolfbane
Vertical not horizontal. Cones sag over time. All I can say, is given a choice between cones that sag and cones that don't... I take the non-sagging pair every time.
djk
Even stored on edge they need to be rotated every so often. If you are careful you might be able to apply acetone to the spider, and hook up a variable DC voltage to center the cone while drying. Schu
I never knew you were supposed to store woofers on edge over flat...

CANT
If you have a pair of Klipsch speakers that came with K33's they will sell you replacements. You just have to provide them the serial numbers. They're parts aren't that badly priced either... The last thing I had to buy was a replacement grill for my CWIII and it was only like $100-110 shipped?

But remembering back to my single days of old, frequently there was 'false evidence' on display.
