oldred
What is the Difference?? Edited October 23, 2015 by oldred
derrickdj1
RA and PSA both seem to be good ID companies. PSA was started by one of the original SVS guys. What are you looking for, HT, music, or both. What size room do you have and how large a sub/s? Room size and goals for the bass system should guide you in what type of sub/s to get. Just wondering the difference between the 2 pretty much identical subs...... Thanks, G. E. M The V 1500 and S 1500 are nice PSA vented and sealed subs. A 750 watt amp on these two models. Jeremy at RA has the Echo 15 and Gamma15 vented and sealed subs. These have 925 watt partial band. The 15 in. subs are larges as 18 in. sealed and the sealed sub are of course smaller. The Echo 15 and 1500 both go down to to 16 Hz and the sealed subs are similar at around 20 Hz. This is why I was asking about room size. In a smaller room, the room gain can add a lot to the sealed subs bottom end and it can be just as good or better than the vented models. SQ should be outstanding with either the vented or sealed sub. Forget the old debate on sealed being better for music. It really comes down to which model you like best. Both companies offer 5 yr. warranty and a free trial peroid.
K5SS
My Gamma 15 should be here next week. I will be sure to post my impressions of it. My room is pretty small so I went the smallest sealed sub RA offers. I almost went with the HSU ULS-15 MKII, looks very similar to the Gamma but I am a big I.C.E. amp fan. Judt so you know, the wait times on the RA products are about 8 weeks. I ordered my Gamma 15 on 8/30. I think that monsrer Gamma 21 slowed down my tiny 15's production;)

oldred
Had a long chat with Tom V..... That is as far as I got.... So far..... After discussing room size he suggested going vented..... 15 or 18 either will do. I will still contact RA...... So no decision yet. On a good note: think I got buyer for my pair of RSW10's
derrickdj1
I wish I knew how much room size has on the impact of the bass in the HT/music setting when I first started purchasing subs.. I have been thru about 15 subs thinks that this one would suit my needs. To be fair, my needs grew, lol. A sealed 18 is relatively small and no larger than a vented 15. My sealed subs are 20 in. tall and 20 in. wide. It is better to get something more than what you think you will need. You can always turn it down. Tom V. is a great guy to talk with and is very helpful.

M The 15" sealed XS15se from PSA was a limited production run.... it pretty much sold out as a pre-order (now all gone). The sealed S1500 looks promising, but no worries, looks like you are now considering vented options. The V1500 also looks to be quite impressive. Good luck. Nismo
Ordered V1800 this morning. Going to start working out before it arrives......... Not.... Congrats! That new beast should deliver. Look forward to your impressions once you get it placed & dialed in! Recently I was moving around the 120lb box with the XS30... similar in size & weight with your new V1800. No worries... I throw around dumbbells heavier than that. Now I'm playing with 150lbs of dual XS15's.
K5SS
That new sub is a beast! I am looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing your impressions! Jeremy at RA is totally bogged down at the moment. I am not making excuses for him, just don't think they were ready for the crazy growth they have recently experienced. He always replied to my PM's over on AVS but never my emails. I ordered my Gamma 15 on 8/30, at the rate I am going, you will get your new V1800 before me..
