I believe i have a set of heresy's

Hi, New to the forum here,  I thought I would come here and get advice from you knowledgeable folks!  I purchased a set of these Klipsch speakers approx 5 years ago,  They still sound super and in great shape! However wifey is pushing me to sell them and get something smaller and less bulky.

Doing some research i have found that what I have here are either Heresy I or II,  The serial number tags i can see were stapled onto the backs but are no longer there!  I cannot find any serial numbers stamped anywhere on the cabinet. The only stamping i see is what looks like an 8 on the bottom right back frame.

I would like to know if someone can pin down the year of manufacture and tell me if I have heresy I or II?  As you can see in the attached pics the stampings on the drivers are as follows:   Horn tweeter-  K77    Mid horn- K-53K    Woofer  K22K    crossover E-2.   what is a good asking price for these?   Hopefully someone can chime in here any help would be appreciated!

That is technically a Heresy 1, but because of the plastic mid horn and K53 mid drivers also referred to as the Heresy 1.5.

You will get more feedback, but they certainly look like Heresys in the pics. Personally, I would work on persuading my wife to keep those speakers!!

Agreed. She will eventually regret pushing you to sell these.

Wishing you the best of luck in persuading her to let you keep these.

If it were me, (and it's not), and my wife was feeling the same way, I would suggest moving them off of the high speaker stands, and onto the floor with angled risers.  Would make them look somewhat less .....bulky....Relative to value, I would say around $ 450-500 USD, depending on your local market.

Great Idea!  and guess what?   wifey agrees as well! LOL  is there somewhere I could find angled risers for these? probably wouldn't be too hard to build?  going to have to google specs on these. thanks Jim never thought of that!

Yay!!! You are keeping them! So glad to hear this!!!!

Now that you've found our forum we sure hope you stick around!

Most definately!  I found plans to build these...looks pretty straight forward...I am also going to rebuild the crossovers while I am at it.  can anyone recommend a reputable place to purchase a crossover kit?

That's good news, glad the suggestion worked out.  You'll get a little nicer bass closer to the floor too.

You might like the design of the Heresy III angled riser, and your wife might too.....

PM sent regarding crossovers.  Have fun!!

Welcome Dirkbuddy, glad you got that all worked out. You might have a hard time finding a better sounding speaker as small as a Heresy anyway.

The next time your wife mentions something about selling some gear, price it 3 times higher than the value…."sorry dear, I tried to sell them but nobody wanted them"!

  • 2 weeks later...

The Heresy 111 riser looks sweet. You should also add a layer of wood to inside of back panel and seal panel with some small foam tape. I don't know how you kept those from falling over on those tall stands. I got 2 pair of Heresys and would never sell them....well if I could get that 6 grand that one guy wants for his maybe...lol Rick
