WMcD
Thank you for the kind words, Thebes. For anyone who is interested, here is a very impressive performance of Carmina Burana. And information. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmina_Burana_(Orff) WMcD
JohnA
So, .. . . .. why is Carmina Burana use in movies when the Russian army is marching to battle? It works, but why this?
WMcD
John, I don't think there is much inner significance, just dramatic music. OTOH, if the situation in the movie is WW-II: The work is basically German and it speaks of changing fortune. Therefore the fortunes of the German army is changing. (A bit of atretch, but all I can come up with - Smile.) It is interesting that O Fortuna has been called the most overused piece of music in history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Orff's_O_Fortuna_in_popular_culture WMcD Edited February 7, 2016 by WMcD
