HI, I just joined this forum, Can anyone help me. I found a pair of Klipsch KLF30, a pair of  Kg 2.2 bookshelf, one Academy center speaker,

a KLF c-7 center speaker and a sw15 sub, I found them at a local thrift store, I paid $30.00 for all. My problem is I  don't know what I need to power these speakers.

I want to use the KLF30 s as a main pair of speakers but don't know what I need to power them. What kind of receiver? Also I want to use the KG 2.2 for a pair of speakers but don't know what receiver to use.

Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Is this April Fools Day?.... :P

For real, you paid $30 for everything?    My first suggestion is that you should go buy a few lottery tickets.

What you (need) to power them is totally dependent on what you intend to use them for, 2 channel or HT, what your budget is, etc.

Thanks for your responses, I want to use the klfs 30 as main pair of speakers. I also would like to use the kg 2.2s as a main pair of speakers in another room.

What would you suggest for a receiver,  how many watts at what ohms? how many channels? When I found them I could hardly believe it.   I have never built a

system and want to do it right. I don't have a lot of cash. What should I do with the 2 center speakers?

You may want to choose an amp with 4 ohm ratings.  Speakers like the klfs with their dual active woofs demand some juice.

How much power you'll actually need depends on your rooms and how loud you like it.  If you're a newb to Klipsch, it wil be far less than you may imagine.

THIS is what I use (when I'm not using tube amps), although I got mine for slightly less than that.  There are probably even better values out there if you scrounge around, but the ATI have exemplary low level performance and come with gain controls (a feature you'll come to appreciate with high sensitivity speakers).

Are you setting up stereo rigs in two rooms, or will one be a HT type system?

:D Thanks, Ski Bum. I would like to set up a stereo rig in both rooms. I what to use the klf s  in my living room, and the kg 2.2 in my  bedroom. Because of cash, I would like to start with the kg s.  I don't know much about audio, stuff like when you say a 2 channel system, do you mean 2 speakers? My exgirlfriend had a set of Klipsch  speakers and I was blow a way by them. She had Rotel stuff powering  them.  Anyway can anyone tell me what kind of receiver I need for the KG 2..2s my room is kind of s small, but would like to be able to power the KLF s with it to. Oh and I like it really loud. Thanks

Two channel, stereo vs. multi-channel or home theater.  You have center channel speakers at your disposal, and the fronts, and the rears for that matter, so I thought you may want to try that.  If not, at least you have more value in each of those center speakers than you spent on the whole shebang.  Quite a windfall, you're one of the lucky ones.

As to what to choose, you'll probably be limited to used gear, of the two channel variety, or a mid to high tier AVR (even for stereo use).  You shouldn't have to spend much to get busy with the music.  Peruse your local craigslist and let us know what's available.

Academy centers are in demand here, so you may get lucky with a forum member who wants to swap an old receiver they have lying around for it (start a thread in the garage sale forum).
