Identifying speakers could be a steal at $150

That would of been a steal if they were the 5's. I'm sure the 3's are still worth it but more of an every day kind of price? There's two sets of RF-5's close to me right now but for $600 (Maple?) & $750 black. I've never had or heard a pair and am curious to check them out someday.

Agreed, 5's for $150 would've been a steal.

3's, 5's - only 25 watts & 5hz difference but each model has their own distinct sound.

IMHO:

82's & 5's are pretty darn close, so 82's could be used to gauge 5's value "if" you are considering those 5's that are local to you.

Keep in mind that 5's have spotty availability, whereas 82's show up quite frequently.

I've had two pairs of 3's already, think I paid $150 for each pair. They were ok, I'm sure as part of a theater set they'd be just fine. The 5's have the larger horn and real wood veneer finish plus "Audiophile grade crossover component's?" At least according to Klipsch spec's. I really don't know how much of an improvement the larger horn would make. Both the 3's and 5's use the same woofers in roughly the same volume cabinet. I like real, quality wood veneer but honestly on a slim tower or bookshelf speaker with a grill cover on, how often are you ever going to see it? Since I haven't had a pair of 3's in a few years I'd have to put them up against the RB-75's.

From the website:

  • Dual 8-inch Cerametallic™ woofers
  • 8-inch square Tractrix® Horn tweeter
  • 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver
  • Audiophile-grade crossover components
