You're On Facebook?

I joined it when they were still Beta, we get a lot of local offers from silicone valley just over the hill.

Glad i did, because everyone in the world heard about it and a lot jumped on it.

This brought me Nam Buddies, Navy Buddies, ex grilfriends, ex wifes, a bunch of avation guy's that were looking for my dad who passed in 78.

They were happy to find me and a few of them had some of my dads stuff they sent me.

By staying on the FB, now anyone in the family can find me, and i can hear who is still around and who died.

I only check in once a month, mosty to steal some great Pic from around the web.

A few times a year i get free tickets for something going on in the area, concerts, airshows.

I use it as a Bullitin board. i chat with No one, and friends a few.

I guess there a lot of reasons to hate FB, i use it for me, so i see no reason not to continue.

That is a start why I am not on it.

Just do not friend them, they cannot see what is one you're home page, no one can that is not a friend.

You have the power.

I used to get friend invites from these women, never ansered, no problems.

If i dont want them for a grilfriend or wife, i sure as hell do not want them for a friend.

I'm on it daily. I use it for business, I have an open page so anyone can access what I have going on. Also on Twitter and Instagram and one other I think. They are all going to be linked so when I post on Twitter, it automatically posts on FB and Instagram. At least what the people who handle this sh*t tell me. It also has a link to my website so it's free advertising

Right now I have them trying to set up separate pages so one will be open to the public and the other will be private.

I really don't like all this social media, but when you need all the exposure you can get, it does help  a lot. I was going to do porn, but being hung like a field mouse, that wasn't going to be pretty.

The thing thats amazing is people posting what they had for lunch, dinner, and what color crap they took. I don't give a ****, I'm not impressed. But, it's an online yellow pages now it seems, and that's one of the 1st pages people search for whatever it is they need

I saw a clip a while back, I think it was Youtube, where a guy walked around in public re-creating the whole FB thing. It was funny. He walked up to a stranger and said, Hey, I like you. Will you like me back please? Can I write on your wall? Oh, and that guy over there, I dont like him. I think I will "unfriend him". The list goes on.

My daughter is into it really bad. I overheard the women talking about somebody that got "unfriended" and buddy, let me tell ya, it was all out war. Who knew when you unfriend someone, thats the biggest insult you can give em now days????  It was WW 3 there for a while.

I have not the time or desire. I officially unfriend Facebook!

We use it as a tool....my shop has a facebook and my wife has a facebook...we keep tabs on what's going on with the kids....

MKP :-)

That is a good point, a tool, pretty much describes my use.

Dauther is on a cruise ship, we never know where the hell she is, wife says she wants to call ireland to check hes status.

I took the wife to the Den, fired up the FB, punched up Julias page, and Wha-La, constant status 24/7/365 for free.

She like most youngings update daily.

It's true that some people do post every random thought or action on Facebook, but you can ignore that.

Facebook has allowed me to get back in touch with people I hadn't heard from in decades. Sometimes there were good reasons for that, but even "B-list" friends may enable you to contact "A-list" friends you've been missing.

I lived in eastern Canada for most of my life, but now I'm on Vancouver Island, a bit beyond the West Coast, so my old friends are far away. Fb makes it easy to keep in touch.

As well, there are Facebook groups that put me in touch with lots of people who share my interests, like motorcycle racing, photography and music. People post their latest images for hopefully helpful comments, and get-togethers can be easily arranged.

Following famous musicians is also fun. When I started following Joe Walsh, it made my day to get messages from him about his upcoming tour, long before I'd seen the news anywhere else. Thanks to that, I was able to book front row seats for his show near Seattle in 2012.

It's fun to be able to post Happy Birthday messages to Joe and his brother-in-law Ringo Starr. Ten years ago, who would have imagined that would be possible?

What I find really cool is when my hero musicians, racers or mechanics actually respond to a comment I've made. From their point of view, it's a safe and fairly convenient way to communicate with their fans, rather than being pestered or worse when they're out in public.

Facebook is really important if you want to communicate with people under 30-35 years of age, because many young people don't like to actually talk on the phone. They seem to think it's old-fashioned and intrusive. Some will totally refuse to speak on the phone. It's annoying, but that's how it is with many people these days, so if you want to get anything done, you just adapt to how things are done now.

If you're trying to set up a photo shoot, for example, if you're not on Facebook or Model Mayhem, or some similar site, it can be nearly impossible. Communicating that way is a bit cumbersome to me, but everything is written down this way, so there is less chance of mixups or misunderstandings.

I have a feeling most here will feel obliged to say NO!....It will be beneath them to even admit it. It's just like asking if they surf the porn sites..... :)

I do both,

I still believe Facebook is the devil.

I don't know about the devil, but more and more of the things I read just get me fired up.  So I tend to stay away and post pointless things here and there.  What irritate me about Facebook, is the crap people post.  I feel that it should be a good way to keep in touch with distant friends and family, which is not what most people do.

I don't think it's horrible if it's used responsibly, but though I have an account, months go by before I log in and then it's for a few minutes.  I think I have a post.  Just not enough time in the day, heck, I was too busy to be on here for 8 months.

For teens it's just another method to bully someone, as if they actually needed another way.  God forbid you post something about someone and they forget to like it.  I've never seen so much inane content in my life.  The negatives far outweigh the positives.
