I've gone ahead and put the feet on, but I'm still struggling with the finish.  It's just a bit dull and uneven.  Any suggestions for how I can improve on an oil finish?

There are a few things.

Oil finish needs to be rubbed to make it shine.

You can lightly sand once cured apply a 2nd coat then cure and rub.

You can topcoat a cured oil finish.  Lacquer or varnish or shellac.

Don't know if I should let it tan on its own or apply another coat of finish...

Fuzzy,

Man that thing is beautiful. Where did you get the feet?

Perhaps a polish containing wax would bring out the luster you seek?  https://www.amazon.com/Howard-FW0016-Feed-N-Wax-Conditioner-16-Ounce/dp/B001BKQYGW

Thank you!  I purchased the feet from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Large-Cube-Square-Rubber-Bumpers/dp/B00S4BY88W/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1479158841&sr=8-6&keywords=rubber+bumper+feet+square

I actually did put some of that on after the oil finish and it gave me a nice smooth luster.

Front baffles are oversized for finishing....but i have had similar experiences.  Orbital sander fixes it ☺

All the pieces are just a little off, not just the baffle.  I end up making my own baffle anyway to have one with square corners for veneering.

I sure wish DIYSG would sell kits without the roundover.  It is way easier to remove wood than it is to add it back.

Fuzz next time write to Erich he might be able to accomodate you on the  front baffles.    You sure you didnt turn a side wrong???  I have thought they were wrong then found i had turned it sideways as its hard to tell.  Ive built 7 diy boxes from them and flawless except front baffles which was intentional

I checked with him before ordering, but he had just received a batch from his CNC guy and they all had roundovers.

I'm sure, I tried them all ways.  The edges stand out just enough to catch a fingernail.  Not a problem unless you're trying to veneer.

The kit is still way way better than I could do on my own.
