TylerW
Sorry if this question has been asked, but I am look for a good receiver for these speakers. It needs to have a phono, as my turntable will be plugged into it. Currently looking at the Yamaha r-s500. Seems like a good unit. I'd like to keep it under 400. Thanks for the help in advance. Rivernuggets
I've always liked Harman Kardon for two channel listening. Here is their newest stereo receiver with Bluetooth capability: http://www.harmankardon.com/stereo-amplifiers/HK+3770.html?cgid=stereo-amplifiers&dwvar_HK%203770_color=Black#start=1 Slightly over your $400 cap but they sell a less wattage 3700 model. Haven't heard these new ones but really like their earlier 3390 and 3490 lines. Nothing against Yamaha, just don't have much experience with them. BobK
If buying a NEW receiver for 2 channel the best bang for the buck is the outlaw audio. I have one and would buy it again. Read up on it. https://www.outlawaudio.com/products/rr2150.html Otherwise you can hit the used market.

If you don't have to have a radio tuner, then I would suggest an integrated amp. Since you are looking at Yamaha, here are a couple of suggestions. A bit over your budget but worth looking into. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamas501bl/yamaha-a-s501-stereo-integrated-amplifier-with-built-in-dac-black/1.html http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamas700bl/yamaha-a-s700-stereo-integrated-amplifier/1.html More Yamaha receiver options. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrs700bl/yamaha-r-s700-natural-sound-stereo-receiver-bose-901-comp/1.html http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrn500bl/yamaha-r-n500-80watts-x-2ch-stereo-receiver-with-networking-and-airplay/1.html Bill
adam2434
If you're willing to go used, the Rotel RX-1052 is an excellent stereo receiver option. They retailed for $900 a few years ago. I'm using one in a secondary system, and have been very happy with it powering several different floorstanding models. Here's an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rotel-RX-1052-AM-FM-Stereo-Audio-Radio-Tuner-Receiver-/391376901043?hash=item5b1fe193b3:g:RZsAAOSwT~9WiFQm
TylerW
And I can still run my tv, computer and phone through the integrated amp right?
adam2434
For the TV and computer, it's best to use a digital connection, so you would need a receiver/integrated with digital inputs or a separate DAC to handle the digital audio. For example: TV - optical output Computer - USB audio output (or optical if it's a Mac) What source components are connected to the TV, and what type of computer to you have? TylerW
Bill, I was considering the tx8050, but have read a lot of bad reviews so I've been a bit worried. The yamahas seem to all have great reviews
adam2434
I had a TX-8050 for a while and thought it performed very well for the money. It's my go-to reco for a simple/inexpensive 2-channel system that needs digital inputs.
