We've been outted!  Thanks to Klipsch for their support to date and in the future.  I am honored and humbled to be able to bring the Klipsch legacy to many who might not otherwise know about it.  I've spent time recently with Klipsch archivist Jim Hunter and we are initially working to get the priceless Klipschtapes that have not be archived preserved according to the most rigorous Grammy Foundation standards.  These are both testimony to PWK's high standards for recording and also showcase some of the very talents that the Regional Music Heritage Center is all about.  PWK will be the only non-musician or composer to be featured with stand alone exhibits in the RMHC.  Actually, he will be the first as well in that current plans are to open as soon as the first floor renovations are complete with the listening, lecture, performance are to be the first section completed.

We have plans for a major festival in Texarkana that will become annual with the first one to be held on the centennial of Scott Joplin's death, the week following 1 April, 2017.  It's my hope that we can move the Pilgrimage that year to the second week in April so as many as possible can enjoy both the RMHC and events to be held here as well as the Pilgrimage.

We have tentative agreements with Rick Benjamin to bring both his Paragon Ragtime Orchestra and his landmark production of Joplin's opera "Treemonisha" for that week, with Joshua Rifkin to perform a recital of Joplin, with Otis Williams to bring the Temptations (Otis is a member of our advisory group and a Texarkana native), boogie woogie master John Tennison, and a variety of other music...something to please everybody.

Dave,

That's great news.  The Klipsch Tapes I downloaded from High Definition Tape Transfers (see: http://www.highdeftapetransfers.com/collections/klipsch-tape-project) are excellent.  I look forward to experiencing more.  Your efforts to preserve musical heritage are to be applauded.

To support your project, I'd like to send, as in donate, some fully prepared batches of the Reg Williamson cleaner for cleaning vintage vinyl before preserving it in a digital format.  When you're ready for some, please contact me.  We can establish a process whereby you have it available in reasonable quantities that will meet your needs without going stale (gelatinous).  I'll send you a PM with my current contact info.  I seem to have misplaced your email address and phone number.

I hope to visit your project someday.

Thanks Neil!  I have an archivist who will need plenty as our main focus will be 78rpm recordings.  One of my advisory group members has 400 historic boogie woogie recordings alone!  He's good...chosen by the Edison Foundation to archive their unreleased Edison cylinders from 1880 to 1927.  He will be thrilled at the results with the cleaner.

I'll be in touch as we gear up...SO much work to do!

Actually, here is a more recent view of the listening area with the playback/archive equipment in the view.  That raised area in the front corner will be media storage.

Congrats Dave and I wish you much success and happiness in this new venture.

I’m a HUGE fan of Joplin and Ragtime.

Hope to travel through your part of the country someday and see it for myself.

Steve

Hopefully you will be traveling through in May and meet us in Hope, AR!!!

Wow, thats a hell of an Honorable project you got.

I agree, the whole idea is a great plan, it's something that's really needed to preserve music history. Good luck, I hope it all comes together and take on a life of it's own, as I think it easily will.
