Percheron
Hi guys, So, being in the market for heritage Klipsch speakers, and having never owned a pair, coupled with being a hi-fi newbie are these worth the effort? I'm wanting to develop a 2 channel system over the next few months or so. I love the look and sound of classic speakers with big woofers and really want some Belles, but they are out of my price range. Reading about the Fortes, Quartets and the like, I think these will suit my listening habits. I don't mind a project to work on as I've still got some new components to get. What should I offer this guy? Thanks! -Derek http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/ele/5455782260.html
moray james
i dropped a set of KLF20 woofers into my Quartet after a serious cabinet brace job and added 2.5 ounces to the passives. I took off the ugly dated factory risers and put the speakers up on 14" Skylan four post stands better bass than any stock Forte. Installed ti mids and tweeters. Did a lot of driver mods as well. Great looking speaker really nice size excellent performance. The Quartet is well worth the time money and effort to rebuild. oldred
With the horn missing I would top out at $150.00. I paid $250.00 for a pair with mint drivers.... Cabinets were in about the same shape. When finished they will sound nice. Probably take another $200.00 to get them in shape. fuzzydog
Short answer...no. They've clearly been heavily abused.
jason str
If you don't mind a little work and can save some cash i say why not. Price your needed parts first so not to over spend. Looks like a great set of shop speakers as is, get some nice hardwood veneer of your choice with the money saved and you will have yourself something special. Edit: A vacuum cleaner or shop vacuum should take the dent out of the dust cap. Edited February 24, 2016 by jason str
Percheron
Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking of low balling him and offer $100. I emailed him but have not heard back yet, if they are not totally destroyed I'll go for it!
