Kenwood KL777D purchased new in the Px, Yokosuka, and to date, these ARE the only speakers iv EVER paid retail for.

First pair of Klipsch was from my dad, Herseys, did not care for them, next trip to the cabin in the Desert, shot them and burned them wile pumping a Sansui 8080 through them.

Everytime my buds and i went for a dirt biking weekend, someone brought speakers.

You name it, we blew it up.:emotion-21:

Round about 1980, someone gave me a pair of Scalas, Desert days being long gone, i cranked them up.

I liked they could handle Hendrix, Cream, Santana no matter the Amp.

1965.......I was 7....can I ask this.....can you still hear them...at your age:D

Holy ....

George,

My hearing at that time was 19HZ to 16.4KHZ. Today it's from 19HZ to 9.8KHZ.  So I upgraded to Crites CT125's which go to 21KHZ. Go figure that out when I can't hear a lick over 9.8KHZ. The 15% off price was $1150.00 for the unfinished decorators K-horns and Cornwall.

Bought a brand new pair of La Scalas in 1975, I was 17 and a senior in high school.

My system at the time was the La Scalas, a Pioneer Spec 1 Preamp, a Pioneer Spec 2 Power Amp and a Sony PS-8750 Direct Drive TT(look this one up)with a Shure V-15 Type lll cartridge and a Stanton 681EEE cartridge.

Talk about one Azz kicker of a system, oh my God!!!

In case you were wondering how in the Hell does a high school kid afford that kind of gear? Easy, I kinda cheated. I had a GREAT job as a salesman in a TV & Stereo store 4 years before I opened my own store. Back then manufacturers had 50% off purchase incentive programs for salesman. That is how I bought the Pioneer, Sony and the carts. We did not carry Klipsch so I did pay full retail for those which at the time were exactly $1118.25 including Ca. State sales tax.

When I opened my own store in 1979, my first dealer agreement was with Klipsch & Associates BEFORE I opened the doors. You can take that to mean that without that franchise agreement there would have been no open doors.
