Theatrical Forte

While pondering the stands (plastic sliders winning out currently), I tried cleaning up the the mess under the hood.  I can't make the wire porn type of cabling picture,  but this looks much better than it did.  I need to be ready to pull 6 more pair up the wall for Atmos.  PS re-terminating Cat 6 cables is a ***** on old eyes.

Looks better than mine that's for sure.

An idea, I heard this works for adjusting the toe in for front L & R.

Play something in just 2 Ch and adjust those two until it sounds best for a stereo imaging,  when done the sound should be centered on the TV.

I tried it but my mains are to far apart to know if it really works. They are against the side walls which is 24' so the center has to be set perfectly for everything to blend well together, but it does much better than I would have expected, ridiculously wide sounding front soundstage. I guess if the speakers would have been smaller it might not work ?

I tell you what when everything is adjusted right, forte's and a good sub can make a pretty amazing HT, even in a good size room.

12 inch seems to be max diameter for the swivels. Swivel centered  with a caster at each corner (4 casters) for stability. Or forget the swivel and just use 4 casters one at each corner. If the 14 inch base is secured to the speaker you might be able to just put some metal/plastic on the base and slide speaker around to desired angle since you have a carpeted floor.

Looked at your pic again, looks like you have bricks/blocks under speakers? You could cut another piece of plywood and edge it so the edging fits tight inside the riser. Use some construction adhesive and glue one piece of plywood to brick then put carpet/old rug on one piece and plastic, metal or even cardboard on the other.

  • 4 years later...

I got here by reading the post about MCmD or Gill!  So sorry to hear.  Aging is not fun, always more things to deal with.  Two years ago I was doing interment fasting to lose weight and feel better.  It worked well.  Felt so good I went up a tree 20 feet to trim a limb over the deck and promptly fell out and broke both my wrists.  They still don't feel so good after two years!   But on this post, I remember Gill giving me advise and comments.   I think Gill gave me the best advise and I took it to heart when he said,"7) Overall. I'm suggesting that you don't drive yourself nuts to that your search for perfection gets in the way of enjoying your equipment and music."
