derrickdj1
Welcome to the forum Fracchia 23. Your avr will guide you thru the setup process. It will calculate distance, speaker levels, ect. If you have problems once you get it and the speakers, just post questions.
Fracchia23
Oh thx but i know that THX gives the Hz that any speaker has to respect, right?
Paducah Home Theater
80 hz is the thx standard. Adjust accordingly to your own taste.
Grizzog
I find 80hz too high for larger speakers; it takes too much of the 'fullness' out of them. I have my 280s at 40hz and my 450 at 60hz.
derrickdj1
The best way is to pick the XO after checking a couple of FR with and without the subs.
Fracchia23
Oh okay... So hope the klipsch that i will buy ,will sounds good with my Onkyo 900 ....
mustang guy
Your Onkyo has 2 subwoofer outputs. You should consider having dual subs if possible. One in the front off center, and one in the rear off center. You will get much better low frequency response from more seating positions. Paducah Home Theater
The recommendation for Atmos is to have direct firing speakers at the same height as your mains, no higher than halfway up the wall. Elevated dispersed speakers will work but it's not ideal. Edited April 17, 2016 by MetropolisLakeOutfitters
mustang guy
The recommendation for Atmos is to have direct firing speakers at the same height as your mains, no higher than halfway up the wall. Elevated dispersed speakers will work but it's not ideal. Taken from Dolby Atmos® Home Theater Installation Guidelines April 2015: As in the past, the placement of all listener-level speakers should follow these recommendations, which are based on ITU-R BS.775-3: The speakers located in the front of the room shall be used as a reference point. All speakers in the listener plane should ideally be equidistant from the listener position. If this is not possible, compensating for distance may be used to time align the arrival of audio from each speaker to the listener. All listener speakers should be at the same height, typically 3.9 feet (1.2 meters), which is ear level for the average seated listener (as defined in ITU-R BS.1116-1). If possible, the height of the rear speakers should be the same as the height of the front speakers. If the room design makes this impractical, or impossible, the rear speakers may be higher than the front speakers. However, we suggest that the height of the rear speakers not be more than 1.25 times the height of the front speakers. also: Placement height For optimal effect and to minimize direct radiating audio at listener level, place Dolby Atmos enabled speakers at or slightly above the height of your ears when seated. Avoid placing the Dolby Atmos enabled speakers higher than one-half the height of your wall. As MLO indicated, the speakers that work best with Atmos encoding are direct radiating type.
