akdave
I thought this was a good genetal article about the current case and previous case. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/may/09/led-zeppelin-music-plagiarism-lawsuits-samples-chords-lyrics Interesting read! Thanks for sharing, I'll confess I was curious what exactly a genetal article was and whether or not it was safe to read at work.
Ceptorman
This trial starts today. I doubt Page and Plant are losing any sleep.

Fish
I had forgot about the Gilligan /Stairway thing, many years since I heard that.Just mentioning Dread Zeppelin has done most Zeppelin songs and Plant is a big fan.
Don Richard
The trial is over and... Zeppelin gets to keep the royalties. The jury decided there is enough difference to conclude that Stairway To Heaven is a unique work. I guess it takes more than a few notes in an intro to make a song. efzauner
Led Zep not guilty but of note.... seems like a 400 year old song is even closer to Staiurway to Heaven! Just mind boggling how the ancient composers foresaw the future! http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2016/06/20/stairway-to-heaven-public-domain/

oldtimer
The minor progression was the most potent argument to the musically inclined. This progression is and has been quite common as the link suggests for hundreds of years.

JJkizak
Maybe Led Zeppelin created that song 400 years ago in their previous lives. There were a lot of "pages" at that time in history. JJK Edited June 24, 2016 by JJKIZAK
DizRotus
Page stole the progression from Spirit who stole it from Davy Graham who stole it from centuries old guitarists. The following is Davy Graham who played this in 1959 as part of a BBC special called Guitar Craze. Jimmy Page and Randy California were still eating paste in 1959 . . . . . . and that's no bull! RoboKlipsch
Clearly they heard the spirit song and copied and modified it. Enough to get away with it. I love Zep but be honest...clearly from the same time they took it and ran with it. I make no argument they owe for spirit. Just rhat rhey clearly knew what they were doing. Maybe ole boy should have eaten some of that paste cause he's no Jimmy Page on guitar...
