hvd_free
I am thinking about getting a GTXP and upgrade from a 4.1 setup to 5.2 by adding a set of PM 2.1. How about using the PM 4.1's orginal front and rear as center and front in the new setup, and using the PM 2.1 as rear? The main reason I want to do this is to have one of the subs behind me(will this sound better at all?). Will there be any problems with this setup? Thanks
justin_tx_16
that would work, however, it would also not work. teh center channel comes only out of the right channel, so you may not have two speakers playing in the center. no need to upgrade to a gtxp to do that. the 4.1 does a great phantom center and if i were you i would stick with the 4.1's. if you wanted to, you can get teh gtxp. it has stereo out x2 for the front and the rear, just change teh rca stereo to mini sctereo with a simple cable from raido shack. connect that to the 4.1's rear channel and put those halfway through the room. then put the 2.1's into the rear jack on teh gtxp and now you have the sub behind you and an intersting sound stage. all and all, i would just stick to what you have. wait for anything changing till we see wht the LogiTech Z-680 has to offer ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
hvd_free
Thanks Justin. I will take your advice about postponing the 2.1 purchase. Regarding the gtxp... if I stick with 4.1, will there be a noticeable improvement of sound quality if I get this to replace my Aureal Vortex 2? justin_tx_16
nah, i would wait on that too. There are better cards out there like the Maya 7.1. I would wait untill next year after CES (january) to see what is coming out. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
rol1
Buy another set of the 4.1's. Then you'll bet ready for any 8ch card. Some gamers have a Audigy and a SQ2500 installed, to have A3D 3.0 for Quake and EAX for newer games.
