Tool Shed Audio - T12 mono blocks

Recommended Posts

Here we go again

As many of you know, I am crazy about progress threads...

Matt of Tool Shed Audio (aka TS Matt) was kind enough to share some of the first photos of my soon to emerge Transcendence 12 mono blocks.  These things are going to be awesome and will serve to power the my La Bella bass bins. Putting out a thunderous 12 watts, each. The mid and high frequency is taken care of by TSA Genesis 6 amp and all controlled by Exodus linestage.  Yup, fully tube driven and bi-amped La Scala's  -WooHoo-

So with out further ado, the initial top-plate sketch:

post-36834-0-28960000-1463013209_thumb.j

...and the beauty of the day that brought such a smile to me face, the beginnings to the mono block wood bodies that is to hold all the goodness

post-36834-0-15800000-1463013223_thumb.j

another big WooHoo - stay tuned for updates and thanks for following along, if you so desire

Yes, I am a little excited :D

Very nice what wood did you chose for the chassis?

They are Walnut and will have polished aluminum plates, to match "The Twins" (aka Genesis & Exodus).  Think I will name them "The Big Brothers". Yup, that's it, "The Twins" and "The Big Brothers" :D

I just got in the queue for a Genesis 6 custom integrated for my Cornwalls.

Awesome! You are going to love your G6.  Mine sounds incredible with the Scala's.  Congrats :emotion-21:

What size room are you filling with all that tube power?

My living room is approximately 15' x 20', partially open to one side.  Speakers on the short side, LP distance about 10-12 feet from speakers.

Wouldn't it be cool to make the plates silver and electroplate them with gold? Silver is $17.19 / oz, and a plate which is 11 3/4" x 6 1/2" and 16 guage would cost about $500. I'm not sure how much the plating would be, but very little actual gold is used. You would have zero corrosion, the best thermal conductivity, and it would be damned beautiful. Imagine that on a case made of a beautiful exotic wood like madagascar rosewood or turkish walnut burl, and some fancy power tubes. Of course, the amp would sit on a clear glass shelf with a mirror displaying the porn beneath. :)

Where do I come up with this stuff?  LOL

Nice. What's the tube compliment on those bad boys and what are you running in the G6 and your preamp? If I may ask.

What EL86s and EZ81 are you using?

Gotta say I'm dying to see these Transcendence Monos. I've never seen a single ended KT88 amp before.

Not plugging my sale but check garage sale for Dennis Had KT88 Single Ended amp. Really not that unusual to run a KT88 SE but it does produce more power than traditional SE tubes like the 300b, 2a3, 45 etc.

As an option, a polished copper plate would look great, if that color suits.

But, it would need some finish coat to keep away darkening.

Maybe not practical, finish will degrade in time, unless something special heatproof.

And of course, Aluminum can be pretty economically anodized, soo many color choices.

So many options.

Will be beautiful no matter the material.      Lars

TS Matt offers his amps in brass plates as well, all with custom etching of course.  I prefer the aluminum, not so "blingy"
