Best for center channel

Just lookig for opinions as the cornwalls are a pain to move around.... I have a pair of LaScala's as fronts and a pair of KLF 30"s as rears  looking for center channel options.

Using a chorus II now  was thinking of moving a cornwall into the center position any comments?

Once you get used to the sound of horn-loaded bass (like the La Scala, Belle, Khorn, and Jubilee), then I find that using a direct radiating bass significantly degrades that horn-loaded bass cleanness.  PWK also wrote about this in his "Dope from Hope" notes.

I can't see your front, but why not another LaScala. My front 3 are, and it's impossible to beat 3 of the same.

I don't own 3 across the front, but I've heard Craig's ^^^.

Even in a less than ideal listening environment (think medium sized gym for cheerleaders and gymnasts) the three La Scala in front (and 3 in back) blows away our local Regal Cinema theater sound.

Maybe it's because there are three identical speakers working in unison delivering sound to your ears all at the same time, all I can say is I've never heard anything better.

I'm actually in a similar predicament. Right now I have La scala's as mains and an RC-64ii as the center and that center is very impressive and sometimes I can't believe how much sound can come from that size speaker especially when watching a Blu-Ray but I'm actually considering switching to 3 La Scala's upfront myself.

It's funny that you mention the cornwall though because I actually considered using one of those as a center myself. The only thing is I am not sure if my TV would fit on top of it. I would have to check the dimensions. If your looking for an actual center though the RC-64ii is definitely worth looking into Very good center!

OP... this was pretty good:

Even though placement has changed a little, this is also very very good:

I do wish I had a third cornwall for the center... but I don't right now.

When I bought my vertical Cornwalls they were both being used as center between two Khorns.   Couple things about that... I wonder if using two Cornwalls you might not experience quite as much distortion with the volume turned down to accommodate 2 centers instead of a single.  These Cornwalls had ALK B replacement (his original design.. not the current cornscala-wall) networks which are not my favorite networks BUT they are very balanced top to bottom!  Well suited for HT I think.

If you have room for two Cornwalls you might have room for a single La Scala... certainly width wise!  Can't beat that horn sound!

I did something similar to that many years ago as an experiment...

again... wall of sound, but imho imaging and separation suffers greatly.

makes me wonder why big installations are Arrays... probably has to do with the processing and movement of the sound.
