Basic home theater setup for a friend

So my friend is backing out of surround sound. She is thinking about a sound bar now. Can you recommend a decent sound bar for $250 ish

 

You know, this might not be a bad option. Its not a soundbar necessarily but it has a built in sub and LCR:

I have the Vizio 40" 5.1 soundbar in the bedroom.  I was surprised at the sound.  Nothing spectacular, but I picked it up for less than $300.  Don't remember exactly what I paid.  The biggest issue is the "sub" can be boomy.  Just need to spend some time moving it around to get it sounding a little better.  I am really happy with dialogue.
