Hmmm.....now that I look at them....  I get ideas in the back of the head....

I already know that a LaScala will work and sound pretty darn good sitting on top of a MWM double bass bin.

I have four MWM double bass bins with no tops...

It's 99% doubtful unless the price stays about where it's currently sitting.

I have nowwhere to put them

What I REALLY needed to do was jump on Mike's K402 package however, I was too late to even consider it.

sooo... help a noob out a little please.  for an auction on the bay like this, I guess if you're interested in a pair like this, it would probably be best to check them out before submitting a bid, yes?  or as some have offered, send a trusted 'proxy' to check them over?  and that now seems like mostly a no brainer, since it would be bad bay business to reneg after winning the auction if you didn't like them.  thanks for the advice in advance.

Mr. -js- if you are interested, yes, the best idea would be to send someone over to see them who knows what he's looking at in terms of what drivers and crossovers are native to the model and year.

We can get a general idea of condition from the finish, which would lead me to believe these have been driven hard and put to bed wet.  If the basic drivers are all in good condition then the fixer-upper stuff would be cosmetic.

But if they have non-working drivers or cheap non-matching replacement drivers you would have to get these cheap, like $400 or less to make it a worthwhile buy.

Even at $500.00 shipped to me it would still be worth it (well to me anyways)..  If I was looking for the next upgrade and Lascalas fit the bill, this would be it. Cut the tops off, fill any imperfections, paint them black, slap an EV HP640 on top and call it a day :emotion-14: .

I'm going to be in Maryville tomorrow.  I'll try to call him & see if I can swing by to hear them.

(by the way, locally, it's pronounced "Murvulle")

If you say "Mary-Ville", you will be greeted with a "you are not from around here, are you???"

(you will stick out like a sore thumb.  Ask me how I know all of this...
