Moose really are tall.  With their long legs, they can look like they’re on stilts.  Unfortunately for them and motorists, this means that if a car collides with a moose, its large and heavy body is at around the same level as the car’s windshield.  This often results in fatalities for the occupants of the front seats, as well as the moose.  The car is totalled, too, of course.  Hitting a deer is bad news, but it’s usually survivable.  No guarantees when you hit a moose, though.

In Scandinavia, moose are called elk for some reason.  They’re common enough around the roads that cars are subjected to the “elk test” before being approved for sale in that country.  The test requires that the car be able to swerve at highway speed without losing control, as might be required if a moose crossed the road in front of the car.

Quite a few cars being tested look pretty bad, without counting the ones that end up sitting on their roofs.  Many famous names fail the test.  The bottom line is that cars sold in Sweden have to have, and do have, safe high speed handling.

Sorry that this is not amusing.  As you were.
