3000 or more NOS 78s in Big Spring, TX

LoneLobo informed me that he'd run into a guy in a Houston vintage audio store who'd just purchased several thousand 78s from the old Record Shop in Big Spring, TX.  They guy had cherry picked blues, western, and such so there likely still remains several thousand NOS jazz, rock, and who knows what.  I was surprised as around 30 years or so ago I'd understood that a California buyer had taken the entire inventory for 10k.

The Record Shop was owned by the Glickman brothers from the 1930s into the 1970s.  Oscar Glickman was still running it when I lived there in the mid-70s.  He looked like Groucho and smoked big cigars.  Their MO was to NEVER send anything back or mark it down.  Every record in the store was priced at the retail cost of when it had been obtained.  So, 78s, of which there was a basement full, were a dollar or so and vinyl was 4 to 7 bucks or so, depending on its age.  I recall seeing a 4 track cartridge of the Beatles first album, which must be very rare indeed as I hadn't seen a 4 track cartidge of anything at all since the short period they were around before 8 track took over.

I am disappointed as our situation doesn't allow me any money to get involved.  There are probably some great and rare recordings out there, and, I understand, some remaining vinyl as well.  I believe the building and contents are owned by an absentee son.
