That sounds great! I know you have a horde of audio gear but, we can make a list of things for the gtg as it gets closer.

That may be a good ideal if the sub uses balance connection. I have never used balanced connections.

Oct. 8 will be the date! This will give everyone plenty of schedule lead way. I will post equipment so, that we can see if any extras are need for hooking up anything. I have an amp switcher. I need to know if anyone is bring something that needs balance, XLR, connections.

Klipsch Chicago Area GTG

The GTG will be a great opportunity to just have some fun for all us Klipsch people in the area. I still need to do a few things to make a bit more room and get the place presentable. I am located 30-35 min. from downtown Chicago.

GTG date: October, 8, 2016

Time: 11 AM – 6 PM

Two weeks prior to the gtg, I will give my cell number and address to the attendees. Also, easy direction for people not familiar with the area. If anyone is interested in selling any of their small gear, this can also be accommodated.

Every GTG does a speaker A/B shootout and everyone that I have read went poorly. It is just hard to do a strict A/B comparison, I've tried. One thing that I did think of was amps since a lot of the guys are into 2 ch systems and music. We can even do comparison of media, digital vs cd, vs vinyl, etc

I'm hoping to get my Omnimic back from Parts Express before the meet. A small presentation can be done on basic room measurements and multiple subwoofer integration. If interested, just make a note in your post and we will do what the majority of folks want. Other topics could be tube amp setup, care, and benefits of Set, triode, pentode amps. All this is open to interest.

I am hoping that some of you will help me out with the gtg. I can handle most of the basic setup but, additional gear would be great to demo. This includes amps, speakers, transports, ect. I will list the main gear that I will be providing. I know a lot of the guys love the Heritage sound and I no longer have my Forte's so, any of the easy to transport Heritage speakers are welcome!

My Gear list:

Amplifiers: Acurus 200/Five, Berhinger I Nuke DSP amps, and Yaquin MC 13 S tube amplifier

Avr's: Pioneer SC Elite 35 and Pioneer Elite SC 99. These avr's have preouts and phono.

CD/BDP: Samsung BD F 7500 with 7.1 analog connections

Speaker system: RF 7 II system

Projector: Ben Q MH 680 with Elite Screen

Niles amplifiers Switcher

Extra: Demo of Dolby Atmos, LLT subwoofer and Tactile Transducers depending on interest and time.

The main objective is just to have a good time and share some fellowship.

Suggestions can be made for a bit of formal structure or we can keep it very casual. Some food and refreshments will be provided. If anyone has a good camera, brings it for a few mug shots to post up on our forum. Feel free to jump and help with planning this event. I almost forgot, additional music is needed from all genres.

To all forum memebers out of the area, we can't help that, lol.

I will bring the ampsandsound Stereo 15 Special Edition to the gathering again, mainly because I've just been able to integrate it into my system with the Khorns, and have again realized just how good it sounds....I'll be keeping it....Sorry Gary.....Doesn't need a preamp, just a good source.

Zeus and I will be doing some serious comparison listening this weekend.....

A SET amp would be nice to have at the GTG. They are said to be magical with Klipsch high efficieny speakers. Some flagship McIntosh or other SS amps gear should be a good match for some of the tube amps. I've heard a lot of amp and have yet to come away with the impression that it sounds warm. Maybe I just think of the SQ wrong. I look for separation, top, middle and bottom end, clarity, ect.

I'm not sure what a Lab 12 sub is and will have to curise the internet, lol. We talk a lot about how well horn subs are with music. It will be nice to hear a couple to get a better Ideal of the sound. For music SQ, a moderate volume works best. If you blast the hell out of the music all the nuances get smashed together and nothing can be said other than it is loud.

Derrick, I would assume that you would have plentiful RCA cables, speaker wire, etc?

I could also bring my super duper cable elevators, in birch, maple and walnut....and we could swap them in and out to see which of the varying wood species bring holy clarity and ethereal goodness to the sound.....or not.

Jim I've got extra subwoofer cables, wire, rca cables, banna plugs and HDMI cables. I also have an extra INuke 3000 DSP amp. I also have a bunch of other less useful stuff, lol..

I will add to the Equipment list special interconnects-like balance connections which I don't have.

Here is something that does not happen at most of the gtg's that I've been to, a comparison of digital music, Flac, and 256/320 mp3 cd quality, lossy vs lossless. I'm not sure if it is good old CD quality at 44kHz and 16 bits since we now have 96kHz and 24 bits. I wonder if the egale ears in the group can tell them apart. Each participant get's 10 coin to deposit in one of two buckets for songs 1-10. Bucket 1 is for Flac, Bucket 2 is for 256/320 mp3's. Just toss a coin in the bucket that you think is Flac or mp3. Five songs will be Flac from HD tracks and 5 songs of the cd quality mp3's.

This should be some fun during the lunch break in the meet. Since we will have some nice amps at the gtg, this may make it hard or pull out the difference between the two formats. I may even have two songs in the 10 where one is flac and the other mp3.

It's time for me to go thru some of my best female artist and select some recordings and give them a critical listen. Alison Krauss and Norha Jones were well received at past area gtg's. I still remember the sound of your LaScala with Hooverphonic. Mark, if you could help with some suggestion/selections, it would be greatly appreciated. You know I went out and brought the one album when I went home, lol. Group suggestion would be great because the next few weeks will past quickly.
