When Did We Become So Wimpy On The Forum?

Recommended Posts

I'm beginning the search to purchase a pair of Jubilees. In an attempt to save me a whole bunch of time, I've been reading old threads about the seemingly endless configurations of the Jubilee. In that search through old threads, I've realized how much this forum has changed over the last 16 years.

Most notably, I feel like I have to "read into" posts & threads a lot more, now. Although the arguments could get pretty nasty, years ago, guys would post their technical results, ear results, and explain why X was better than Y. Now, I feel like there's an awful lot of tiptoe-ing going on and not nearly as much actual comparison of drivers, networks, and amps.

When did a bunch of super knowledgable Boomers and GenXers get so soft?  <----tongue in cheek, of course.

Have a great Labor Day.

I can't agree with "wimpy."

It is true that there is a natural turn-over.  Some folks from the old days have become less active. Some were overly contentious.

There is new blood and they make important contributions and there are lively discussions.

Keep it up and I'll smack yo so hard you won't wake up until next week.

You'll find your wallet a half a mile away.

Your teeth will henceforth be known as those white on things in the jar on the mantle.

I can tell you about my relative (subjective) merits of the K-69, K-69-A, TAD TD-4002, and to a lesser degree, the BMS 4592ND dual-diaphragm drivers on a K-402 on top of a Jubilee bass bin.  This is of course using a digital crossover, like the EV Dx38.

I've got personally measured data on the K-69-A vs. the TAD that I can share (and I have shared it on the forum recently).  Other drivers, like the Faital Pro HF400 series, etc., you can try Bob Crites. There are more "full range" 2" compression drivers out there of course. As you might know, I do recommend Be diaphragms over titanium (rather strongly), and poly over titanium.  My guess is that you'll be really happy for a while with a stock K-69-A, or especially the B&C (K-69) upgrade, because of the difference in acoustic performance of the K-402 over other horns--it will knock your socks off...relatively speaking.

I believe that the days of flame wars on Jubilees have largely passed:  I think that everyone basically got tired of Jubilee flames about 5 years ago.

It's them dang Millennials boiling all statements down into a nice, sweet tasting PC soup.  Can't raise your voice around here anymore.  ;)

Good to see you, Jeff!

I hope all is well, Lyle. Keep in touch if you hear any rumblings of a pair of Jubilees going up for sale. Have a good one-

The forums are now scrubbed and sterilized to prevent any notions of freedom of thought or speech on any subjects possibly controversial.  Dr - you have cured the patient - they died.

The place is just no fun any longer.  It is not informative or entertaining or thought provoking.  And no doubt my post will get deleted.

Ha, "scrubbed and sterilized" ?

Ya-All got to get to 5K before ya make a statement like that.

And if your looking for "controversial" you will be happy camper on the BS Forum.
