Can 4.1's be hooked up to an AV receiver?

Excuse my ignorance, but can these be used in a regular HT, hooked up to a regualr A/V receiver or are they for PC's only? I couldn't find a pic that showed the speaker coonections on the back of the speaker

My father has a cheap Aiwa receiver, and as bad as the reciver is, the speakers are worse. He could really use a cheap upgrade and at $149 for the refurbs... Well it seems like a good deal.

Any thoughts?

In addition to the above question, they can be hooked up directly to a DVD player, is say a bedroom?

Thanks

the receiver is rated at 8ohms how many watts per channel? he could easily blow the speakers if there is too much power, >44watts. also hooking up the sub can be difficult.

best solution is to get a receiver with 5.1 line outputs
