Schu
Can anyone explain why the deal with litium ion batteries constantly exploding? I mean this stuff is scary, they are in phones, airplanes... etc. What makes them unstable and explosive?
JL Sargent
Lithium Polymer is the most dangerous one I believe. That's whats in all these phones and such. The cells are thin sheets instead of cylinder cells like with lithium ion. When charging these batteries hydrogen gas can buildup. That's where the problem seems to start. That gas has to vent. But if these is a malfunction due to Overcharging, over heating, mishandling, poor manufacture, etc, things can go wrong. Powerful battery coupled with hydrogen gas can equal pow. JJkizak
I believe they had the same problems on small aircraft batteries. I also believe it brought down a large aircraft. Also some Sony cameras. And some other brands of labtops. Kind of makes you wonder about things. JJK
Moderators Travis In Austin Posted September 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 16, 2016 I have the new phone that has been recalled, they are replacing it next week. They announced before we boarded any Samsung's of a particular model had to be completely turned off. But my hoverboard was no problem.
CECAA850
I think the Samsung units have a battery problem as opposed to a charger problem. I believe the anode and cathode can touch due to poor manufacturing causing a dead short.
