SilverSport
in order to get the intended sound out of one of these, should I be using the digital out or the analog outs???...I have a Heart CD6000OSE and it has no owners manual (just for the Marantz unit it's based on)... I know Daddy Dee used to have one of these units, anyone else???thanks for any help you might provide...Bill
mark1101
If you use the digital outs you may not be getting any tube benefit at all. On my Jolida JD-100 the tubes are after the DAC in the analog output section. If I use the digital output the player is basically just a transport.
SilverSport
mark1101, that makes total and logical sense to me...I have been trying some different combinations and was hoping not to have to pull everything out yet again but I'd bet the Heart is the same way as your Jolida... The Heart will go in with my EICO HF-81 (freshened by Craig at NOSValves)... Thanks, Bill
jwc
The AH! Tjoeb CD4000 is one of my favorites. I just picked up another one from Ebay. Should be here this week. I had one in the past and regretted selling it. I still listen to CDs. I have the oppo 105D....will compare.
mark1101
I can remember that Ah! spanking the Jolida in the shootout we had. Very good sounding player with the up sampler added.

Daddy Dee sold myself his Heart/Marantz unit, prior to him passing away. Like Mark said, you have to use the analog output to use the tube buffer. Gee, I thought I was some dinosaur still using CDs and older CD players...guess not...

Honeybadger
At what point are there too many tubes? Tube cd player, to a tube preamp, to a tube amp. I couldn't hear an improvement between my JD-100 and my DV-47Ai. I stuck with the pioneer til I heard the Oppo 105. HB
jwc
I should have never sold the AH!. I got one back and I'm very pleased. I have the OPPO 105. Love it too....... But for good ole CD playin.....The AH! is more enjoyable.
billybob
Consider the Jolida mentioned. Not made anymore. Good review available.
Blvdre
I've owned the Jolida, and currently have the Ah Tjoeb. I didn't have the opportunity to do a side-by side, but i would say they're both very nice players. My Ah! crapped out a few months ago; I troubleshot the problem to the upsampler. I finally got around to calling Upscale Audio, and they directed me to send it in. They confirmed the problem, and gave me an exchange price of $169. Pretty reasonable IMO, and am looking forward to getting the player up and running again.
