HughStewart
I firmly believe the RSW15 is superior than the R-115. The only drawback that I have had is finding a replacement grill!
derrickdj1
The RSW is a good subwoofer, I'm not inclined to rush out an get one. These are older subs and the amp may be a problem. The R-115 is also a good option. The real question is if you can correctly manage your bass system. Sometimes, easier said than done. In other words, I find there are less good or bad subs vs what people want out of their bass system. The confusion is with the latter in most cases. I don;t mean this in a negative way, it took me 3 or 4 years to figure out exactly where I wanted to be.
Chris Damerval
you said you build furniture which means you can build a sub. if you can fit a single rsw-15 or a r-115 then you can fit a single 18" cabinet no problem. you can get the most performance from diy subs period. you could do a single 18 and but a powerful amp that will run two then down the road you just add the other sub and you already have the power needed for it. as far as between the two subs mentioned. the rsw-15 is MOST likely the better of the two however they are getting older. so that needs to be taken into consideration. as far as the open box deal. skip it. I'm gonna send you a pm regarding that. check your messages. I was wondering just why to avoid the open box deals? I am going to upgrade my sub soon and have looked at going with 2 instead of just 1 and thought maybe the open box would be a good way to save a few bucks. Anyway I would appreciate your insight, right now I have 1 R-110SW and it sounds great but after reading a lot of different opinions on subs I get the feeling that I'm missing out on deeper sound that my little 10" sub just can't reproduce. A true open box deal that you find online usually means they shipped it via UPS and it was returned for whatever reason, and the box is beat to hell. This only gives you a limited 90 day warranty. It doesn't mean it was simply taken out of the box for 5 minutes to take a picture and everything else is perfect and the warranty is exactly the same as new. http://www.klipsch.com/b-stock-warranty

As far as the beaten up boxes, well that just makes perfect common sense now that you said it. I have always avoided the open box deals because I just don't trust companies online that say they refurbished the item and 9 times out of 10 you are lucky if they even wipe the dust off! Anyway thanks for backing up what I have always thought and now I know I'm not just being paranoid! Anyway thanks for backing up what I have always thought and now I know I'm not just being paranoid! Lol The other aspect is that sometimes they are simply lying, but not like you think. Some sellers have an infinite supply of open box and used items, they never go away, never sell out. You can try to buy that item and they're like "oh we're out of those, but guess what, we'll send you a brand new one for the same price!". It's aggravating. They fully intended to sell you a new one from the start, they just use the label as a way to get around listing them at minimum advertised prices that everybody else has to adhere to. It's not just speakers or fringe sellers that do this, I know a very large and well known receiver dealer that does this constantly. It's dishonest in my opinion. Chris Damerval
I would have to agree with you on that, they aren't the only companies out there that pull those dishonest stunts. They are not only dishonest but unethical to which is why all the hometown brick and mortar store's are going under because you can't compete with that crap! Sorry getting a little sidetracked and irritated just thinking about it! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
dubs
I just purchased the r115's. I like them. They definitely add great low end in HT. Music is great too. I had to change a few settings in my Denon 6400. Had to set my crossover for my L/C/R to 80hz instead of 40, after that it really brought them to life. I personally haven't heard the RSW-15's. Is there anyone who has honestly tested both of them side by side without a biased opinion? Just a straight up comparison using same source materials. I'd be hard pressed to believe that one would just blow the other out of the water.

Klipsch has not made a suitable replacement for them other than the RT subs. They do blow the 115s out of the water. No question. The problem is their age, mainly. dubs
The 115 actually has better specs than the RSW-15. The 115 goes up to 122db and down to 18hz vs the rsw-15 (121 and 19hz). The 115 is more efficient of a speaker reaching those specs with 400-800watt peak, where as the rsw-15 needs 650-2400watts peak to reach those numbers (121db & 19hz) Also you stated music. What about HT? Would it just “blow it out of the water?” the term BLOW IT OUT OF THE WATER is a pretty strong statement. Seems a bit biased if you ask me. I have a hard time believing that one will be worlds better than the other one. If I had to GUESS, the differences would be negligible. I understand the main difference is the passive woofer vs the ported sub design. Perfect world perfect speaker is sealed. In A ported box the port has to be “tuned”. I was looking for an opinion based on YOU yourself testing them side by side. Not because you own them so they’re better opinion. I wanted somebody who is fully educated on both subwoofers, and had tested them both in the same controlled environment. And then giving a humble accurate non condescending opinion. I talked with a Klipsch product specialist. They plan on releasing an(MX/XL not sure naming convention) sub, that’s coming out in one size, that will be made in Hope AR, end of this year/beginning of next year. And I’m sure the price point will be 1k-1.7K

Replaced my Klipsch 10" sub with a Dayton Audio 15" HF sub (kit). YES; "blew it away." Even better ... the Professional series speakers DEFINITELY "blow the (consumer) Klipsch speakers out of the water." Replaced my Cornwall's with KPT-904's ... not even close. willland
I am not here to say which is "better" because "better" can be very subjective, but IMO, the RSW(10", 12", 15") line of subwoofers are the most musical subs Klipsch has ever produced with maybe one exception, the P-312W. Very "accurate, clean, punchy, and can dig relatively deep with proper setup, placement, and in the right room. Very solidly built with good heft(45lbs, 58lbs, 85lbs). Now with that said, your rig with your twin R-115SW's looks awesome and I bet sounds awesome. Play with the settings and placement until it sounds "right" to you and you will be in for many years of enjoyment. Bill
The History Kid
The History Kid And you have heard both side by side with exactly the same source materials? Yes I have. We did a shootout with them with identical placement in the same room. Hands down the RSW performed better for music. I don't do movies much, so I can't comment nor care to for them. You have been here long enough to know specs on paper are but a mere fraction of the story. Those specs also come from rooms with the most ideal setups and treatments. So, to look at a piece of paper and assume something is close enough is a bit short sighted, wouldn't you say?The 115sw is one of the best Klipsch has offered in a long time, but I will always pick the RSW simply because it delivers performance that runs circles around the R series when it comes to accurate bass production in music. There's no contest.
dubs
Thanks bro. I will now make sure to ask your opinion before I buy any subwoofer in the future.
