MyOwn
I came across this and I think a lot of the songs listed just Suck. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/50-best-songs-of-the-nineties-w432840
Chris A
Clearly, you're not a Rolling Stones believer... It's okay: I'm not either. The book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" basically follows Rolling Stone's "Best Of" lists. I've learned that my tastes have never coincided with theirs. Paducah Home Theater
Britney Spears but no Toadies or Chili Peps or Pearl Jam? Really? Did they really grow up in the 90's? My very similar partial list of stuff they left out, maybe not in this order. This is based on popularity and how it felt right at the time and not looking back at cultural significance or anything. 1. Possum Kingdom, the Toadies 2. Cumbersome, Seven Mary Three 3. Weezer, various from the Blue Album. "Say it ain't so" was the most popular. The world has turned is my favorite. 4. I'm only happy when it rains, by Garbage 5. Under the Bridge, Chili Peppers 6. Regulators, Warren G 7. Basket Case, Green Day 8. Gin and Juice, Snoop 9. Kiss me, six pence none the richer 10. Just my imagination, the cranberries 11. machine head, Bush 12. Pearl Jam... too many to list, but Jeremy or Yellow Ledbetter ought to be on the list 13. Plush, Stone Temple Pilots 14. Iris, Goo Goo Dolls 15. till I hear it from you, Gin Blossoms. I'd say Hey Jealousy, but technically that was 1989 16. Big Me, Foo Fighters 17. all the small things, blink 182 18. how's it going to be, third eye blind 19. santeria, sublime 20. forty six & 2, Tool 21. crash into me / lie in our graves, dave matthews 22. hypnotize / mo money, Notorious BIG 23. Poison, Bell Biv Devoe 24. Summertime, Fresh Prince 25. Two Princes, Spin Doctors
jimjimbo
Wow, just goes to show you how out of the loop I am...I haven't even heard of 39 out of those 50 artists....and the other 11 I wouldn't listen to anyway.....but, do I care?
oldtimer
Zombie by the Cranberries is a must listen, but I didn't see it on the list? I like most Garbage I've heard (lol), and Doll Parts by Hole is worthy. I guess Teen Spirit had to make it since Weird Al parodied it so well....didn't see Creep by Radiohead either. Woofers and Tweeters
Most of the time when "_____, Golden Globes Award, Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix, Rolling Stones, etc" claims it's a must see, I miss what they see in it. I'm not into fads and that's what gets promoted.
RT FAN
I think I have 2 songs on the list in my collection. Merely re-enforces my belief that popular taste blows.
