Cubs and Indians

Agree the Cubs can win tonite against Bauer but their overall hitting psyche is way down in the dumps. They look shell shocked. Expeting to win and not meeting expectations makes it even tougher.

Agree on Joe Buck a perennial Cardinal homer. It was all he could do the last couple years to give the Royals an atta boy. When they got over the hump and beat the Mets you could almost hear him swallowing his own vomit - again and again. Where are your precious Cards again this year, Joe?

The Cubs have to live up to all of the media hype. Their  manager even inadvertently inferred (we , the Cubs, are the number one team in baseball with better pitching, fielding and hitting) and that the Indians don't belong in the World Series.

It's been done before, more than once.

In 1968, the Cardinals were up 3 games to 1 against the Tigers.  I was a sophomore at MSU.  A guy from St. Louis was so certain the Cards had it in the bag, he vowed to push his TV out his fifth floor window if the Tigers won.  That CRTV made quite a sound and mess when it hit the cement ~50' below.

The Cubs need only win one game at a time . . . three times.

The Cubs might win tonight (game 5) but I don't see them winning 3 in a row.

You would think the National League team would have the upper hand because the American League has their beloved designated hitter, a hitting specialist they lose when they play in the NL stadium and the Cubs have a dynamite DH they can use.

Still, the rule of thumb is good pitching beats good hitting, so unless the Cubs bats come alive, the last game of the 2016 World Series might be tonight.

You're correct about good pitching. The Cubs will probably win tonight, maybe even game 6 also back in Cleveland also, but winning 3 in a row is a tough order.

Lester strikes out the side in the first.  The crowd goes nuts.  I mean really nuts.

The crowd is going too nuts.  They seem out of their collective minds with excitement but I guess that is OK for this being the last game in Wrigley for the season.

Right you are, and that is why they play the game!  :D

I hope Cubs win tonight, I'd like to watch a couple more games.  B)

I like the Cubs, but I find myself liking the Indians also. So if the win at least we get to watch more.

UPDATE.....the Cubs' hitters are waking up.

5th inning:  What's the deal with this "expanded" strike zone?  Lester threw a 3-2 count at least a couple of inches outside and it was called a strike.

Big league umps are so good.  If the ump wanted to give the pitcher that call 2" outside he knew what it was (a baseball width is 3").  I guess all you can hope for is that he calls the same pitch the same way for both teams.

MLB changed that a few years ago from the era of Greg Maddox where Maddox would throw 6" away and get the strike call.  MLB now says the umps will now call the rule book strike zone, which means the strike must be over the plate.

7th inning:  Cubs starter Lester is out, but why did Cubs pull their starting catcher?

The new catcher already just cost Cubs a base with a passed ball.

Cubs closer Chapman now in.  I guess Cubs have to play for NOW and make sure the guy on 2nd doesn't get in.  After that, you take whatever comes along.

The "See?" was in response to Contreras' great save, not your lack of a response.

Have you considered a catheter?  Adult diapers are out of the question.

Could you send me some of yours so I can see how well they work?
