BAP
I just received my new RP-280Fs, RP-450C and R-115SW. I have older ADS towers for rears. I'm wondering if my receiver has adequate power to run these. My Denon AVR1300W is a 7.1 rated at 80 W per channel (8 ohms, 0.08%THD, 20Hz~20kHz). Opinions? K5SS
That receiver has plenty of power to drive those speakers to ear-bleeding levels in most rooms.
rebuy
I have a 1200 and have power to spare---not an issue for me.
RoboKlipsch
Look at the ratings for your speakers....for example, RP280F is rated at 98db. That means in a 8ohm AVR it will play at 98db at 1m distance. So back up to say 3m, you are maybe 9db below that....89db. So at 1 watt, at a normal seating position, that speaker can play 89db. At 2 watts, it would be 92db. At 4 watts it would be 95db...and so forth. 100db is extremely loud! You have more than enough power, and a whole other debate that exists is whether most any AVR actually outputs all the watts it says it does...and the truth is, it rarily matters. You need at most maybe 30 watts at the highest levels and probably a lot less...more like 1 or a fraction!
