Heresy II vs III

I owned both the II and III. The III are clearer and seem to have more punch.

My particular pair of IIs seemed to go slightly deeper, but I'd choose the III over the II.

However, both sound like heresies at the end of the day...

hi,

I am still looking for a second hand pair of heresy III in France and i found this ad and i need to have your opinion :

Price 1100€

I am selling a pair of speakers Klipsch Heresy 2. This is one of the last series produced before switching to model 3. They date from 2005/2006 for the year of manufacture.

In perfect working order, the filters of the speakers have been entirely upgraded according to the recommendations of Bob Crites. Filtering makes use of very high-end components: strong section Mundorf air chokes and extremely well-known Sprague Vitamin-Q NOS capacitors. The price of the components listed below will be more than 800 euros

Among the klipsch heresy that I could listen to and with this configuration, they are the most consistent. Especially the filters are fully integrated inside the speakers with internal Mogami rewiring and new WBT terminal blocks. We stay visually in a configuration 100% original. Custom feet were built and varnished by myself in a golden oak color that goes well with the original shade of the speakers.

I consider the cosmetic state as excellent. The angles are not depressed or deformed, the oiled wood is in very good condition. A face of a speaker has a mark, but it remains totally anecdotal. The original grids are also provided and in perfect condition.

The price is in agreement with the general condition of the enclosures, the (neat) modifications that have been made and the relative rarity of the offer. Last drop for quick sale

Withdrawal in Paris 10
Shipping to arrange extra.

List of components used in the development of the filters: (photos on request)

WBT-0735 Speaker Terminal Blocks (Pair) = 85Euro (s) x 2

Mundorf air cleaner l300 t106 2.5 mH 0.07 Ohms = 130Euro (s) x 2
Mundorf air pressure l300 t86 0.16 mH 0 Ohms = 65Euro (s) x 2
Sprague Vitamin Q 12.0 Capacitors - 600 DC 15Euro (s) x 12
Condensers Sprague Vitamin Q 1.0 - 300 D.C = 15 Euro (s) x 2
Capacitors Sprague Vitamin Q 0.68 -100 D.C = 10Euro (s) x 10
MiCA capacitors 0.010 uF - 1000 D.C
Transformers taken from original filters

Not likely that you are going to find second hand Heresy III anywhere in Europe, anytime soon.....and if you do, they would be much higher priced than the pair of H2 you describe above.  While I don't know the market conditions in France, it would seem that if they are in as nice a shape as described, and considering the network upgrades, that the asking price is not out of line.

Thanks for your answer

I wanted to know if these improvements were interesting

I often find second hand Heresy III in france to sell but they do not stay available more than a week in general and far from my home. The price is generaly near to 1300€, knowing that the price for a brand new pair is 1900€.

Finally I will probably wait a little to buy new one

I might be wrong, but that picture looks like a Hiii to me. The backside would tell.

The riser does but the grill attachments look like velcro which would be for a HII. The HIII uses magnets, I recall only having 4 points, in each corner, but I could be wrong as well.

Hello my name is Pete Lucchini just enlisted on this site I've been bit by the Heresy bug by luck.

Plan on buying the Tie Diaphragms from Bob, but i have a bunch of new audio compactors my friend gave me before he moved.

Anyone know the cap values on the HII to HIII conversion?

I may have some that i can use for the project before i ask Bobs help.

New guy wanting to overhaul a pair i bought with a poorly glued dust cap at an embarrassingly low price i don't want to mention.

Running a pair of Oiled Oak KG1.2 on the top for a little extra bass bump split through two Rotel low watt power amplifiers, one amp for each pair.

At first i was like OK what's the hype, until i dialed them in and now I'm like listening to stuff i haven't in years,, more like hearing stuff i missed as well.

It's not just a cap replacement.  The III's have completely different drivers.  The only things they have in common are the cabinet and mid (squawker) horn.

Having had both the H-II and now I have the H-III. I would say the H-III has a more integrated bass response.  I find the H-II has a "shelving" effect on the bass.  Either needs a subwoofer, but the bass on the H-III integrates better with a subwoofer.   The H-II has a shelving effect, or suck out in is bass frequencies.    If one would put an attenuation on the mid and high drivers to balance the frequencies out, then the problem would be resolved.   Or, some have upgraded the bass drivers on their H-IIs with good results achieving the same thing I mentioned.

Thanks you. In fact the difference between the two word fleetwoodmac and flitwoodmac is volonteer.  Flitwoodmac is the name of a caractère un a  famous french comic named "les tuniques bleu". As i love the music group fleetwoodmac, il find funny to take this name as avatar
