Mighty Favog
So here's the setting: A boy about 8-years old has a disability similar to Autism(??) but his parents don't know what's wrong. He has a nanny of German descent who understands the boy. At one point in the movie the boy misbehaved and was told "You just blew dessert! (for dinner)" Later that night at home, the boy repeats "blew dessert" to his parents. The parents understand him to say "blue dessert". Being so excited that he actually spoke words, they go out and buy him any and all desserts that are colored blue albeit futile. Later in the movie they address the boy's speech problem. It sounds only like gibberish. But someone recorded the boy talking onto a reel to reel deck. Per happenstance the recording was slowed down to half speed........and then what the boy said made perfect sense. Any ideas what this movie is titled?? Never heard of what you describe; but, it sounds like a good story. I hope someone here has the answer.
Karsoncookie
I did some digging, that's a tough one. Any other clues? Actors name would be best, or anything else. How sure are you on the "80's" ? Marc
Mighty Favog
Hmmmm....doing some more brain stormin'. When the r2r tape was slowed down the boy was repeating what he heard on a TV game show of the announcer describing the prizes that a contestant won. Karsoncookie
Favog - I searched a few places including IMDB, did not find anything close to your description. I do notice the IMDB listing says nothing about autism or nanny, german or not, SO... I am very curious how you found it. I ask because - I love to try to dig, ferret out stuff on the net, and I did not see this one. For my education, How did you find it please?? And, side note, any luck/ progress on the Adeline stuff? Mighty Favog
Hi ya, Marc. Sadly, no, no responses on the Sweet Adelines search. I'll just have be patient with that one. I was able to contact one of Mom's friends in the group that lived near us who is also a very good friend's aunt. For the movie I put "blew dessert" in quotes along with a couple of other things outside of the quotes. Someone asked the same question back in 2010 and said it was a Lifetime channel movie (well, couldn't have been the original showing). Anyway, the hit for the search was on Yahoo Answers (I think) and someone answered with Circle of Children. So, yea, some of it was pot luck.
