How to Mount

Prezes

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am planning to mount my R-14M to the ceiling using the following mount a Colytech SP-OS04 mounts: http://www.cotytech.com/content-product_info/product_id-2275/ceiling_bracket_for_large_satellite_speaker_sp_os04.html. There are two options: to attach the mount plate to the side wall of the speaker or to the top wall. Could someone advise which way would be better, as well as what type, size and number of screws to use?

Thanks.

These can be mounted quite easily using a wall mount, do you need to mount them to the ceiling for the layout?

If you decide it must go into the ceiling, I don't think there is anything built into the speaker that allows for easy mounting.  You would need to attach the mount using small screws that fit through the holes in the mount itself.  In that case mounting it to the back of the speaker is much better....otherwise, all you have is the screw threads keeping that speaker from falling onto your head, furniture, or similar.    The only downside of doing this is you are putting little holes into the speaker....once they are there, it will be hard to sell the speakers or use them without the mounts (as you would need to fill the holes).  Just my 2c.

Build a 4-sided box from shelving or MDF. Attach box to ceiling, insert speaker. A piece 3/4" x 6" x 48" should do the trick. Screws, glue and a cheap can of spray paint should do the trick. Should cost less than $10.
