Mixing Reference with Quintet

Klipsch SD

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Currently i have Klipsch Reference series  5.1 setup with Denon AVR 2300.

Mains R26F

Centre RC25

Surround R14S

Sub R10SW

Am planning to make it 7.1 setup by adding Quintet-ii pair of speakers as rear surround. Due to space constraints i cant place bookshelf in rear.

Will Quintet-ii pair match as rear surround  with my existing reference series ? Comparing its size with other speakers will it sound good  ?

Pls advice me. Thanks

My simple answer would be yes.  Nobody can say for sure without knowing the room, but as long as they aren't really far away they should be able to keep up.  Because they are rear surrounds they do get some duty but nothing like what the fronts get or even the side surrounds.  I'm a big advocate of having back surrounds but not killing oneself spending a lot on them.   As long as the AVR can dial them in and keep them within the limits so they are all level matched, you're good to go.  No stress and smart idea to use those quintets.    If they cannot be dialed in, you need to move them closer or replace with an inexpensive pair of bookshelves.  That could be for example a pair of R14Ms or R15Ms to match your current setup.
