Is this one of those things where i should select what sounds best to me? willland Posted February 25, 2017 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Many times Dolby Digital is played back PCM because the DVD/BD player does the decoding instead of the AVR/processor. My Cambridge Audio 751BD has the option of doing all the decoding and sending to AVR as PCM, or bitstream and let the AVR decode. I have not been able to hear any definitive difference between the two. For movies, I always send bitstream from player to processor. For music, I usually experiment with the choices.
