That's a shame.  Around here oak trees are gold and unless a tornado hits, are known to live hundreds of years and don't just fall on things.

The Cicadas love them very much. Still cleaning up after them.

Wife's cousin next door, asked if I'd help cut his tree down.  Too close to his house for comfort.

 

I said, why not dig it up and pop the root ball out at same time?

 

He said "huh??"

 

I said, I'll be right back...

 

Dug on three sides, leaving one side as an anchor.  Gave it a bit of a huff & a puff....and let him clean up the mess!
