Listen to the Fripp Sacred Songs is American singer/songwriter Daryl Hall's first solo album. It was produced by guitarist Robert Fripp, who also played on the album. 1977, Hall and Fripp reconnected while Hall was writing songs for his solo debut; Hall drafted Fripp as producer and guitarist. Hall wrote all the songs, except "Urban Landscape", (a 'Frippertronics' solo), and "NYCNY" for which Fripp wrote the music and Hall the lyrics, and which appeared also on Fripp's Exposure (1979) only with different lyrics as "I May Not Have Had Enough of Me but I've Had Enough of You". Sacred Songs was recorded in a span of three weeks, with most of the songs initially recorded with Hall singing and playing piano alongside Fripp's guitar work, followed by overdubs by Hall & Oates' regular touring band. Hall insisted on working with his own band rather than with the Los Angeles session musicians who had played on Bigger Than Both of Us (1976), the previous fifth Hall & Oates album. Although the session players were uniformly excellent musicians, Hall felt their performances were hampered by a disconnectedness from the songs. The album was originally intended to be part of a loose trilogy of sorts with Peter Gabriel's 1978 second album and Fripp's Exposure (1979), all of which Fripp produced.[2] 4

mustang_flht
To go back to less conventional and less commercial discs, music will not please everyone, because it is not easy music to listen to. dirtmudd
this is my favorite era .. of the mighty Crim.. the devastating performance of 21st csm .. is of legendary proportions ! https://www.dgmlive.com/tour-dates/367 TIMELINE | KING CRIMSON | KING CRIMSON ROBERT FRIPP THE VICAR TOUR DATES STUDIO SESSIONS WORD NEWS FORUM DISCOGRAPHY SHOP ALL 28 JUN 1974 CASINO Asbury Park Ever wanted to know what happens after the edit on the storming Asbury Park or the fade out on that contemplative solo on Easy Money? Well now you can find out![endtease] Presented uncut for the very first time using unreleased mixes from the multitracks without Eddie Jobson overdubs (as on USA), the power of this gig is tangible. Despite the internal politics and tensions of the period, the band taps into a ferocious energy that never stops burning. Wetton is especially inventive, infusing the material with a brutal force. At the other end of the sonic spectrum Fripp’s sparkling clarity produces a consistently powerful performance that must rank amongst his very best. From the grumbling rasp of LTIApt2 through to the ecstatic demands for an encore, this is a classic Crimson show in every respect. Indispensable. It hit me at full speed as I reached Starless and then into Schizoid Man. I will call this “extreme music”. Just give me more of that, please! Written by Moses Gordon Amazing Much has been said about this lineup of Crimson, Fripp’s quote about the "flying brick wall" comes to mind but this show is different. This show exudes sheer force and power. It is by far the best recording of the Wetton era and one of the best Krimson live recordings ever. Written by Jordan Clifford Easy Money alone is worth it I understand why some people prefer the edit of "Asbury Park". However, it sounds like after the USA cut ends it goes into an entirely different improv, as if it’s 2 different attempts, all within the same track. The last 4 minutes aren’t as solid and it sadly peters off with no real close, but it’s still great! I’ll take it! It’s still one of the most excellent examples of KC improv ever. But the real revelation here (since our lives were already changed by "Asbury Park" in USA) is what comes after the edit on "Easy Money" WOW Honestly, it’s the best "Easy Money" I can think of ever hearing. It’s SO amazing. If it were a separate track labeled itself an improv it would stand alone like that too. It’s a really incredible display of the power of this group. I’d pay 10 dollars just to hear another "Easy Money" like this. There must have been more, it has so much potential for expansion. Written by Matt George a question I have this show on compact disk when it was released 5 years ago, and played it in my car for the first time the day it arrived in the mail, hotly anticipating the full versions of the improv and Easy $$. The latter was outrageous, given that I am a fan of any Crimso use of the Hohner Pianet, also Fripp’s psychotic sustained fuzz guitar solo; but poor David Cross seems to gotten a little lost in the beginning of the improv. He hits a couple of bad notes on the mellotron as the piece begins to unfold. Otherwise, a good concert. One question: did Fripp make any announcements to the audience that night? The concert is pure music, with no Fripp banter. Can anyone who might have been there remember if Robert Fripp said anything into the mic that night, and, if so, what did he say? Thank you in advance.
